Verse Of The Day: Step Off

Artist: A-Trak f/ Little Brother
Album: Step Off 12"
Song: Step Off

[Phonte]
Uh, Tay is, so fluent when I do it, he the truest one
The deck is stack and the odds are two to one
And even though we didn't move any units, son
I rock shows and the crowd moves in unison
Like Tay's flow is Beyonders
The type most niggaz get lost, and I swear
my rap sheet should come wit a Complice 2 and compass
My accomplishments, I think y'all really don't want this nigga

[Rapper Big Pooh]
One of the best, I don't care if you know
Four years, three albums and a hell of a show
Got a, hell of a flow, you ain't smellin me though
'Fore it's all said and done, I'ma settle the sco'
Settle the Mo', wit another bottle fo sho'
J. Wall settled down on the flo', it's been a great night
Honeys callin, Bull City grab a late bite
Pray to God we make it to the crib alright

Here is some background on him....

Bio:

After crash landing, Tony Moon was horrified to find a world populated by humanoid billboards, devoid of all original thought, capable only of regurgitating the advertisements transmitted on all detectable and subconscious frequencies by the fascist media moguls hidden in the shadows.

As the populous drained their own true wealth building increasingly sophisticated weapons and fighting sadistic wars for the privilege of marketing the devil diamond, Mr. Moon, holed up in a secret bunker, began using his knowledge of the lost language to transmit a pirate frequency. His dense lyrics, previously undecipherable, were designed with one purpose; to overwhelm and short circuit the microchiped population.

The appearance of small pockets of awakened individuals alerted The Beast to Mr. Moon's whereabouts. His laboratory was set ablaze and the body of his work, immediately classified as a dangerous hallucinogen, was stolen in order to create an antidote.

Verse Of The Day: Soul Assassination

Artist: Afu-Ra
Album: Body of the Life Force
Song: Soul Assassination

[Afu-Ra]
You never heard of this, murderous, mic style superb with this
Burn with this, learn with this, you couldn't swerve with this
Or speed up on me in a high speed chase
Shift the clutch and what, bump chumps, I rip it up
I'm hangin corners, type ship like Lamborghini
You couldn't see me, solar rays scorch Houdini
You know my essence, hip hop and energy
Soul Assassinate ya, never hate ya
It's deep thought, while you drink my Henneccy
This deep sport, right where the winners be
I'm takin over, sounds glide like genocide
I'm never sober, write my rhymes, like a roller
It's so much colder, as you bounce into the lunar
Don't be confused a second to get your wreck in
Afu riggity Ra hit intersections

Verse Of The Day: Guessing Game

Artist: Elzhi
Album: The Preface
Song: Guessing Game

K, K. You want to play? How should we start?
You try and guess the other half of this word. We'll use smart-
-alec. You see how easy that was?
I say a line like: My head get slight when I'm catching a buzz-
-cut. Got it? Well we can do another
Why was Sally shocked to find there was a nine inside my under-
-age? Now we can really begin
Long as this beat keep the treats falling out of my pen-
(piƱ)-ata. Rather slow or faster it's disaster
I come flowing harder than a master-
(mastur)-bator. Now in the streets we a mess, try to test
We drop it, you stop, pop a two in your rest-
(resp)-tory system. They claim they the best
Hey, you ask me I say maybe they were OK, yes-
-terday. They wouldn't even respond
Those niggas pussy and they don't want to fuck around with a con-
-dom. I live the life of a star
See me glide in different rides like I live inside of a car-
-nival. Yea, that's your girl in the stand
She's a fan, when I'm done she's going to want to give me a hand-
-job

Stay Tuned for that Role Players BlendTape....

Well It's Been Kind Of Slow Latey

Yup but things should pick back up with the releases that are coming next month. Mos of the slump is cause school is starting back across the nation and well most of us go to school. So there won't be constant post like this summer but I'll try my best. But hell nothing has came out. But anyway Royce Da 59 is dropping the Bar Exam 2 on HipHopDx and I'll post it here as well. The first Bar Exam was cool. But I want a Royce album! Where that album with Premo? Though he destroyed The Return Of Malcolm. Track is tough... Anyway if somebody know where I could cop that shirt Illa J wearing here. That would be greatly appreciated. Does that new Cool Kids joint ("Delivery Man") remind you of something Doom would rap over? But they crushed that joint. Mickey Factz' The Leak 2 should drop today but till then here's some exclusive audio....lol

Verse Of The Day: What It Do

Artist: Lupe Fiasco
Album: Food & Liquor
Song: What it Do

[Verse 3]
Now that's two TV's that's in my car
Thats not really real man that's really a fraud
Its from the green screen
My CD might not pump on your block
but at the truck stop man I'm really a star
So how you gonna act now?
Same music homeboys hollin' in the background (yo!)
See I had to lay the smack down
Act like a X addict
Act now gateway off to the next habitat (habitat)
Couldnt match it now I'm laying that down like a mat now (ooh!)
And checkin for me, now they pat down like a Howard Gap found
I was hidin' in my shoes, with me and my two crews
We took from other things you ain't finding in the stew
Thats why's no booth and I'm rhymin' in the Lou, still buying the CD
Thats why I catch 'em rhymin' in to me while they rhymin' in they room
Now I'm off to Caloon for some rhymin' and some tea
My pinky up on my tea cup
If you play the DVD at the same time that you start the CD
you gon' see that they sync up
And if you happen to doubt, just play the CD while you watch the TV
and you gon' see that I'm doing what I'm rappin' about

Verse Of The Day: Path of Destruction

Artist: GZA
Album: Pro Tools
Song: Path of Destruction

[GZA]
He ended up on the block with kid scooters and ice cream
But ended out in foster home, unti lhe was 19
Stealing for food and didn't do for enjoyment
At the time of lay off, shut down and unemployment
He move into a new world, and seek this fortune
And suited himself to the times with extortions
A hustle that was ruled by men and murder
He earned enough his daily bread and wanted to move further
He knew no good, come from such a sin
Had issues as a kid, so he held it all within
And he pursued the game so happy, on a path of destruction
Even though the road was rocky
Very caught up in his own drive for dominance
And to know that he would pay in the end was common sense
Some saw he had a long deserved death
And then he felt the lead when they were told he left

We Here

Delicious Vinyl is proud to release the debut single by Illa J: "We Here" b/w "R U Listenin" featuring Guilty Simpson. Both tracks are produced by the legendary late producer Jay Dee (aka J Dilla), Illa J's older brother.

"We Here" is all sizzle and gleam as Illa J ad-libs his mission statement: "Yancey Boys from Detroit, Michigan...comin' for that number one spot...'bout to rock the world!" Over the previously unheard Dilla track (from a cache of Jay Dee beats held in safety for a decade by Delicious Vinyl founder Michael Ross) Illa J's soulful tenor delivers the hook: "We poppin' bottles like it's first day of the year." Illa J confirms the feeling: "Somebody could be in a hoopty but the Jay Dee beat sound so good it make them feel like they riding in a Phantom."

Illa J: "'We Here' is a celebration of waking up every day. Why not live out your dreams, why not try?" Of the lyric "Let's go crazy/ You saw Purple Rain" Illa J explains: "It's like Prince asking 'Are we gonna let the elevator break us down?' Naw, let's go all out! One of the things I learned from my brother is that you don't get that much time, so make the most of it. That's why I've decided to dedicate my life to doing what I love: music."

"R U Listenin" is a thumpadelic tribute to Detroit featuring Stones Throw recording artist Guilty Simpson, Illa and Guilty trading hot verses "sending love to the 313." Of the collaboration, Guilty Simpson exclaims: "Illa J is a young talent in his own right with many dimensions - a real force who's obviously the product of great stock!"

Delicious Vinyl's Michael Ross: "Anyone who loves Jay Dee is going to flip out when they hear how young Illa J represents for the Yancey family. For over a decade these beats have been waiting in the vault for this moment. It's like Jay Dee made these tracks with an extrasensory purpose, so that Illa J could rap and sing over them when the time was right. Well, it's that time. It's the Yancey Boys baby!"

Oh snap son, this track is dope. So much good music coming hard to keep up with it all. You can purchase or preview that "R U Listening" joint off iTunes. Sounds dope from what I hear. Can't wait for the whole album to drop. RIP Dilla
We Here - Illa J (prod. J-Dilla)

Also you can check out Mablib (with the assistance of J. Rocc)'s tribute to Jay Dee. It's the fifth volume in the Beat Konducta series and titled "Beat Konducta Vol. 5 Dil Cosby Suite". You can preview and cop it here....

Verse Of The Day:Word...Life

Album:Word...Life
Artist:O.C.
Song Word...Life

[Verse 2]
By the way, do me a favor
Give it a chance, if a nigga has flavor
Years surpass now trained and it's over
I'm bein' intoxicated, now I'm kinda sober
Persons serve for purpose like workers
If this clowns is makin' Hip Hop a circus
Me and my architect, mark my sweat
Bring up the engine, better yet a Corvette
Thoughts I search 'em like a sub's emergin'
Some subjects never been touched like a virgin
Urgin' MC's, do way of my 'raft
I'm destroyin' all things to go through my path
It doesn't matter the sex type
O to C now, niggaz gettin' done by the ? in freestyle
Rhythms are constantly switchin' and changin'
Name is O.C., I wrote and arranged this
Fluctuation I add it like seized it
Before it was missed
Now more than a breeze and
Poetically astoundin', round and soundin'
My brain was paused to a beat, boomin' and bouncin'
Edo waves kickin' with the kicks asided
You must go inside and exhail, divide it

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- Thousands of supporters were expected at a Saturday rally in Springfield, Illinois, to see the debut of Sen. Barack Obama and Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as a presidential ticket.

Delaware Sen. Joe Biden is Sen. Barack Obama's choice to be his vice-presidential running mate.

Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, announced his selection of Biden as his running mate with a 3 a.m. text message and a statement on his official Web site.

"Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee," the text message said.

"Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois -- the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago," Obama said in an e-mail sent to supporters Saturday morning.

"I'm excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can't do this alone," he wrote. "We need your help to keep building this movement for change."

Before the text messages were distributed, multiple Democratic sources confirmed to CNN early Saturday that Obama wanted the Delaware senator as his vice president.

On Friday, CNN learned three Democrats who had been considered contenders for the No. 2 spot, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, had been ruled out.

"Sen. Obama has continued in the best traditions for the vice presidency by selecting an exceptionally strong, experienced leader and devoted public servant," Clinton said in a written statement Saturday morning.

"Sen. Biden will be a purposeful and dynamic vice president who will help Sen. Obama both win the presidency and govern this great country."

Biden's stock rose earlier this week after he returned from a two-day trip to the Republic of Georgia after Russian troops invaded.

Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, brings decades of experience that could help counter GOP attacks on Obama's lack of experience in foreign policy.

Sen. John McCain's campaign quickly reacted to word that Biden would be Obama's running mate, calling attention to Biden's past comments about Obama's experience.

"There has been no harsher critic of Barack Obama's lack of experience than Joe Biden," McCain campaign spokesman Ben Porritt said in a written statement.

"Biden has denounced Barack Obama's poor foreign policy judgment and has strongly argued in his own words what Americans are quickly realizing -- that Barack Obama is not ready to be president.

In a debate during the Democratic primary contest, Biden raised questions about other candidates' foreign policy experience.

"Who among us is going to be able on Day One to step in and end the war? Who among us understands what to do about Pakistan? Who among us is going to pick up the phone and immediately interface with Putin and tell him to lay off Georgia because Saakashvili is in real trouble. Who among us knows what they're doing? I have 35 years of experience," Biden said.

During another debate, moderator George Stephanopoulos referred to some of Biden's comments on Obama.

"You were asked, 'Is he ready?' You said, 'I think he can be ready, but right now, I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training,'" Stephanopoulos said.

"I think I stand by that statement," Biden replied.

Biden, in a July interview, said he would choose Obama's judgment over John McCain's war record and foreign policy experience.

"But 20 years of experience that has not been very solid in terms of projecting what was going to happen just doesn't make you a better commander-in-chief," Biden said. "We don't need as a commander-in-chief a war hero. John's a war hero. We need someone with some wisdom."

Biden abandoned his own White House run after a poor showing in Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses. He also ran for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination but dropped out after charges of plagiarism in a stump speech. Learn more about Biden

The 65-year-old was first elected to the Senate in 1972. Shortly afterward, his first wife and daughter were killed in a car accident. He considered resigning, but decided to continue with his political career.

Biden is serving out his sixth term, making him Delaware's longest-serving senator.

He is married and has three children. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and got a law degree from Syracuse.

In 1988, Biden suffered an aneurysm and nearly died but has recovered fully.

One of Biden's grandfathers was a Pennsylvania state senator, according to the Almanac of American Politics.

Biden will make his first big speech as the vice-presidential candidate on Wednesday, August 27 -- the third night of the Democratic convention.

Usually I don't do Spotlight albums on a album so recent but I thought since I'm really feeling this album and I haven't shared my final thoughts about it on the site. So I made a exception to that. As a fellow native of the great state of Texas I respect S1 for not fitting into the typical Texas sound. He invents his own sound and presence with this album. This album really makes me wonder when will we see another SFP album? It would be crazy ish. S1 stepped up his beat game and M1 & Myth have been spitting vicious lately. This album is sprinkled with gems throughout. After the album is done I was satisfied but feel I might of over hyped it a bit but was definitely worth the purchase.

Unfortunately since I purchased off iTunes. I can't up the songs so you'll have to take action to hear this album. You won't be disappointed.

The Leak 35: Swahililand

Verse Of The Day: Distortion to Static

Artist: The Roots
Album: Do You Want More?!!!??! / From the Ground Up (Import)
Song: Distortion to Static

[Verse One: Black Thought]
Yo, I'm every MC, it's all in me
That's the way it is, when ya gotta be
Indeed as I distort I proceed, indeed
Gettin hotter than sacks of boom, in my room at the Ramada
For tanks in your memory banks to fill up
I provide the static, with scratch to match, while you catch the vibe
Most can play high post, but yo that don't mean shit
Because my click'll make a motherfucker sick
I flips, redder than pork, comin to New York to mix
(It's Bob Powers) With the snares and kicks to fix
Rhythmatically, you got ta be, static-y
Magiccally I appear, spark a L and drink a beer
With air smooth, takin niggaz loot with dice
then shoot The Roots, poetic, courageously kinetic
Vagabond, versatile and various, plus rap styles
of mine are blunt, pain is in the mind, so I'm fine and five
Foot seven, inches in height
My mission to strike mics and lighten your tights
Frightening, like lightning
Flourescent, incandescent, evervescently
I represent, Foreign Objects and Ill Elements
Very relevant, plus intelligently managin matter
that's makin tracks fatter, revolve around
Saturn like rings and brings swings, when I sings with bass
Then distort up in your face like mace
Bustin your dreams like gats with loaded magazines
I'm on the rap scene, repellin fellas like a vaccine
As I, rocks from under blunderin I'm not, lyrically
Ya get, shot, get caught so distort with Thought, for real
It's the illest out the Phi, short for Philidelph-iada-fly
Money makin move fakin I isn't
Niggaz can nah front, I'm poetically exquisite
Wicked, with the visit while you're wonderin what is it
Dig it, yo my mellow um whattup for the night
(Malik B, get on the mic, get on the mic)
Like that y'all, and yo I'm flowin, my part of the song
It's goin, it's goin, it's gone

Tomorrow Already

"Time be gettin late." On Sept 30th, Now On (Jackson Perry, IX Lives and Haircut) releases their genre-defying and genre-defining new album "Tomorrow Already".

The project features production from the Lab Techs, Jake One and Astronote, with appearances by Buff1 and Aloe Blacc.

The new, melodic, electro-soul sound of "Tomorrow Already" is really unlike anything we've heard and is quickly separating them amidst the bubbling LA music scene. The group says, “we really discovered ‘the Now On sound’ and have created a piece of music that truly expresses our uniqueness."

With four music videos currently in the works, you're sure to be seeing (and hearing) a lot more from Now On in the very near future. For now, check the equally alluring album cover and title track.

Now On - Tomorrow Already

If you heard Pure or There's Only One then you've certainly heard Now On. I suggest you go check out their last album, Eye Level. Which is one of my personally favorite albums. Soulful melodic soulful sounds to penetrate your ear. Now On is so fuckin dope like I can't stress it enough. Check out their myspace http://www.myspace.com/nowon

Verse Of The Day: Mikey Rocks

Artist: Cool Kids
Album: The Bake Sale EP
Song: Mikey Rocks

Hold the phone like a call on the other line
I'm on the phone with a bone of another kind
So hold on, we could roll to the other side
Side of my dome is a zone you could never find
Grip hand, you might need assistance
Trying to find where you are inside of my head
Stay in line, single file if you can
Then we can kick it like kickstands and
You know I peddle to the chain slip
So fly propellers propel us to the angels
Repelling the fellas that's jealous of the name
It's repelling to rappers as soon as I stage hit
So one, two, one, two, mike check
I'm out for high end, EQ my steps
I don't use bad grammar so please excuse this
I'm just trying to let niggas know who I is

Verse Of The Day:Hi-Life

Album:Ridin' Dirty
Artist:UGK
Song:Hi-Life

[1st Verse]
You only got one life to live
That's all they give you to do it
You could bullshit your way through it
Or stay true, it can be complicated cause niggas
Be gettin' shot in the cross
People and names get lost
The people in the lane get tossed
The streets'll eat your ass alive
Take your positions with pistols, bare hands, and knives
And nobody's surprised if somebody
Don't survive the dusk to see dawn
It's treacherous how we was left to die
On the streets that we be on
Motherfuckers sleepin' on them corners that you pee on
Probably cause society felt they didn't belong
Now who in the fuck made it this way for us
Got all these little niggas slangin' that yay
Because it ain't like they make high levels gainable
And that punk piece of American pie just ain't obtainable
So how can I substain a full life before death
Man, I'm left out here to make it by my goddamn self
Now c'mon, who gives a damn when you can't afford the turkey or ham
Livin' off of Raemon Noodles, beef jerky, and Spam
Now that's sad, but that's a fact of life
All I can see in front of me is up for grabs
Come off that slab
Cause poverty will push a nigga over that brink
Over the edge especially if you don't know your ledge
So instead of being without, I'm hustling
Tryin' to get through these ungodly days
Thinkin' of ways to get the fuck outta this maze
A man will committ a crime 'cause a fuckin' crime pays
I'm going through a phase you don't grow out
Until there's a reason a mother fuckers gots to pour out
His 40 on the curb, disturbed and left with no doubt in his mind
But still sometimes he don't know why
He walkin' around just hopin'
He can get one more try to make it
It's bullshit he going through, but yo, he gots to take it
You can't fake it, to get that hi life

Verse Of The Day: Raw Life

Artist: Foreign Exchange f/ Joe Scudda
Album: Connected
Song: Raw Life

[Verse 1: Phonte]
Rock to the rhythm, back and forth like a pendulum
Swingin' to the beat, competition don't mention 'em
A full course emcee, y'all just continental
Posted at the bar, but you only copped the minimum
While lookin' at me like what the fuck's gotten into him
They can't get a handle on the solid foundation me and mines is standin' on
Bringin' it live with no disguise or camoflauge
Dropped "The Yo-Yo" and stopped niggaz from puttin' sandles on
We handle ours from bookin' the rhyme management, killin' the wack and now
You a prime candidate for the weak shit that make the crowd stand inanimate
But at our shows they stand adamant
'Te got the corner blitz on got your quarterback scramblin'
Checkin' the sidelines to see just what the fuck is happenin'
You wanna get my playbook and examine it
Connected - $12.99 plus shippin' and handlin', nigga!

Did yall see that new promo video for Foreign Exchange's new album, Leave It All Behind? Well here it is....

Verse Of The Day:Survival of the Fittest

Album:The Infamous
Artist:Mobb Deep
Song:Survival of the Fittest

[1st Verse]
There's a war goin on outside, no man is safe from
You could run but you can't hide forever
from these, streets, that we done took
You walkin witcha head down scared to look
You shook, cause ain't no such things as halfway crooks
They never around when the beef cooks in my part of town
It's similar to Vietnam
Now we all grown up and old, and beyond the cop's control
They better have the riot gear ready
Tryin to bag me and get rocked steady
by the mac one-double, I touch you
and leave you with not much to go home wit
My skin is thick, cause I be up in the mix of action
if I'm not at home, puffin lye relaxin
New York got a nigga depressed
So I wear a slug-proof underneath my Guess
God bless my soul, before I put my foot down and begin to stroll
Into the drama I built, and all unfinished beef
You will soon be killed, put us together
It's like mixin vodka and milk
I'm goin out blastin, takin my enemies with me
and if not, they scarred, so they will never forget me
Lord forgive me the Hennessy got me not knowin how to act
I'm fallin and I can't turn back
or maybe it's the words from my man Killa Black
that I can't say so it's left a untold fact, until my death
My goal's to stay alive
Survival of the fit only the strong survive

Verse Of The Day: Fresh

Artist: Cormega f/ Big Daddy Kane, Grand Puba, Kool DJ Red Alert, KRS-One, Parrish Smith
Album: Fresh 12"
Song: Fresh

[Verse 1: Cormega]
If you could dream it, you could be it
I once sound aloud to the few guys I superseded
As you near, you hear Anita Baker playin in my BM
Indeed, I'm from the era of Patrick Ewing Adidas
The game turned public housing to areans
Bummy dudes move packs so they could buy jewels and sneakers
Money grew, some adapted, others would become distracted
Smokin woolies, openin they packs like Pookie
I'm a fiend of hip-hop, my rap is cinematic
The beat is the plot, I'm breed as a clock
G's like R-P, believe it or not
Prestigious in illusion
that it lose you, and you not hot..
You know how I do
My jewels so colorful, my daughter don't gotta watch cartoons
Dudes watch my moves, like Lebron fresh out of high school
My electrifyin skills, I'm raw

Verse Of The Day:Food For Thought

Album:Chemistry
Song:Food For Thought
Artist:Buckshot & 9th wonder

[1st Verse]
Damn
Can I get a piece of bread?
Without somebody in the street tryin to eat what I said
I know I spread words like butter on toast
Cause when ya get it in the morning then ya love it the most
But see it's really the beef I hate
Even though there's a lot of y'all that wanna see my plate
I dedicate time to separate lines
And go bananas when I think about the food for ya mind
And stay away from them rotten apples
When ya fed some get fed and do a lot to get at you
So I match my caliber with my calories
Forty five shots a slice is like can it be
Nawh where you want it breast or thigh
I got a two piece and fries for niggaz like y'all
So why would I pass my plate
When I'm working for a salary to pass my weight

Verse Of The Day;Tried By 12

Album:Tried By 12 Mixes
Artist:East Flatbush Project
Song:Tried By 12

[1st Verse]
Don't say sticks and stones
They might break your bones
But the nine millimeter, it'll bore your dome
I'm talkin about the toe-taggin
Huh, the body-baggin
Man, niggas are dyin, huh, mommas are cryin, casket buyin
Who, me dyin, leave my family cryin?
Hell no, I cause, um, bloodbaths and showers
Send me commissary, motherfuck them flowers
Thoughts of slaughter, of leaving my daughters
Hours and hours of fears running through my mind
As I pick up the Zig 9
Beef starts with the shove and ends with the shovel
And niggas standing on your corner reminiscing of you
But your ass is out and you're dead and gone
So who'd you rather be?
The murdered, or the murderer?
Niggas got me stressed - I got my Tek and my vest
And I sing who Jah bless, let no man curse
Or one of us will leave here tonight in a hearse
For we'll be tried by 12
And fertilizing daisies
Crying mommas and cousins and crying babies
Due to the fact that death is a must
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
Niggas getting bust
For in God we trust
So if you're comin to my town and try to slow the dough down
You must be casket-bound

Sad Times....

R.I.P. Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr. (August 20, 1942 – August 10, 2008)

R.I.P. Bernard Jeffrey McCullough (October 5, 1957 – August 9, 2008)

I know all of you have heard that two greats passed away this weekend. Isaac Hayes & Bernie Mac..I'm truly sad at the death of both as they had their own inspirational meaning in my life. If it wasn't laughs, it was a smile, if it was some soulful music, it was wise insight. Those two had alot more to offer the world while already offering and achieving so much. So may both your souls rest in peace, much love to both of you.

In this time of grief and uncertainly we must look in the hearts of ourselves and find what we truly love in life. We only get one. So take advantage of what you have now. Though I didn't know either personally I appreciated what they achieved and the paths they set for the future like me. Thank you both Isaac & Bernie....

- Much love

Verse Of The Day: The Art of Storytellin' Part 4

Artist: DJ Drama f/ Marsha Ambrosius, OutKast
Album: Gangsta Grillz: The Album
Song: The Art of Storytellin' Part 4

[Andre 3000]
So I'm watching her fine ass walk to my bedroom
And thought to myself that's the shape of things to come
She said, "Why in the club, you don't make it precipate?
You know, make it rain when you could make it thunderstorm?"
I'm like, why? The world needs sun. The hood needs funds
There's a war going on and half the battle is guns
How dare I throw it on the floor
When people are poor
So I write like Edgar Allen to restore
Got a cord, umbilical, attached to a place that can't afford
No landscaping or window draping
This old lady told me if I ain't got nothing good, say nay-thing
That's why I don't talk much. I swear it don't cost much
To pay attention to me
I tell it like it is and then I tell it how it could be
The hood be requesting my services
Oh, don't get nervous it's
Step your game up time. These ain't them same old rhymes
Designed to have you dancing in some club
Niggas ride to me; women beat off in their tub
Exfoliating with their poms poms yelling, "Go 3000."
I'm in my whatever bumping +nwa, + +100 Miles and Runnin'+
Runnin', Runnin', Runnin', Runnin'
Summon, woman. Come in. Sit down
Heard you need some plumbing
Done and I’m in a swell mood, a rather swole mood
Until she told me that she told dude
That she’ll be back, she’s going to the store
I didn’t know she had a boyfriend so the door
I pointed her to. I said, "Call me when y'all break up
I don’t fuck nobody's bitch and never owned a Jacob."
Know what time it is
Nigga just trying to live like a nigga supposed to live
If I still drank that malt liquor, I’d pour the beer
On the ground for niggas not around. I started off starving
Now they got me out here +Brett Favre+ing
Trying see if I still got it; got it
I guess it’s like a bike. Think about it
Bout it, bout it

Countdown To There's Only One: Buff1 - There's Only One (review)

Buff1 - There's Only One

Buff1 graciously drops his second album only a little over a year from his debut, "Pure". Does Buff1 suffer from the sophomore slump? Not in my opinion. This album is a big jump from Pure. Buff delivered excellent rhymes over brilliant production from The Lab Techs.

I've see Buff1 called a mix of Ras Kass and Elzhi. While I can see where you get that but does that make Buff1 a entirely new being to the hip hop world. I can see this album having the same effect that Blu & Exile's had last year. This album is majority produced by The Lab Tech. The worse beat on the album is Black Milk's beat. Now I'm not downing Black but Lab Tech are just that good. Buff picked some soulful banging beats that are sure to get a instant nod from anybody that loves music. As Buff1 doesn't waste a second on his album as every line has a great meaning and message. I've seriously listened to this album or majority of it everyday. My favorite songs have to be "Know The Secret", "Love The Love" & "Electrifying Music Maker" but the rest of the album is very listenable.

The singles for "There's Only One" are the heavy kicker "Beat The Speakers Up" & "Never Fall" featuring Black Milk. These two songs are great for Buff publicly as the heavy beat and hard lyricism is sure to catch some one's eye. While you have some what of contrast with Real Appeal & The Sky which love songs. Real Appeal goes on some real sexy ish describing the sexual need the woman has for Buff. The Sky is that clique "Ill sing you a song" type joint but backed over amazing samples. How could you skip it. There are actually no songs I would skip on this album. They are all fairly listenable.

But here is something many want to know. How does it hold up with Elzhi's The Preface? Well I love The Preface don't get me wrong but There's Only One takes the cake. I'll do a break down on that later but for now I recommend you check out the album. It releases tomorrow and you still have a chance to enter the contest to win a free copy of Buff1's CD.

Verse Of The Day:You're Everything

Album:II Trill
Artist:Bun B Ft.VA
Song:You're Everything

[MJG:Last Verse]
They call me pimp tight, MJG
The dirty south, it's everything I want, everything I need
Everything I'm hungry for
When I'm outta town gotta get home just for it
Everything that I been raised to love
The wheels that my grandmamma gave to us
Racial profilin, police harass are regular days to us
You say door, we say doe
You say four, we say fo
You say whore, we say ho
You want more, but we want mo
What else is there left for me to do
This the dedication from me to you
The south, I know you gonna see me through
So until I die, I wanna be with you
You're everything.

A*QWAY*LEO

The fairly unknown duo hailing from Houston called Aqualeo had quite a buzz that has now died down. But their creativity shouldn't go unappreciated. Much isn't known about the talented duo of Acie & Priceless. They do have a album out called Blue Flame which released in 2005. Unfortunately its on backorder so I haven't gotten my hands on it. But it seems they have went on a hiatus. But they are suppose to have another album coming called StarStuck (the cover is above). The singles for that LP is Cadillac & Passanger Seat. These two songs have gotten alot of attention and buzz. Namely Cadillac which was featured on many tapes back when it released. I dont know the status of "Starstuck" as of now but I will definitely find out something for ya. Ill keep you updated as I found out more info.

Cadillac

Passenger Seat

BONUS: Paul Wall feat. Aqualeo - Sit N Get High (off People's Champ)

I STRONGLY RECOMMENDED YOU CHECK THEM OUT!

Verse Of The Day:Little Weapon

Album:The Cool
Artist:Lupe Fiasco ft. Bishop G and Nikki Jean
Song:Little Weapon

[Last Verse]
Imagine if I had the console,
The family of those slain,
I slain on game consoles,
I aim I hold, right trigger to squeeze,
press up and Y one less nigga breathe,
B for the Bombs press pause for your moms,
Make the room silent, she don't approve of violent games,
She leaves resume activity,
Start and blew hearts with poor harsh wizardry,
On next part I insert code
To sweeten up the purses of murder work load
I tell him he work for
CIA with A
With operative, I operate this game all day
I hold a controller connected to the soldier
With weapons on his shoulder he's only seconds older than me
We playful but serious, now keep that on mind
for on line experience

Which producer wasn't featured on Pure & There's Only One?

Buff1 had a track on Pure where he totally dedicated a song to his love of hiphop who was featured on that song?
