Verse Of The Day

CunninLynguist - Things I Dream

[3rd Verse]

Fumblin with a sweat on my fingers, something impetuous lingers
Become infected with feeling so I'm electing this evenin
To end my life without reason cus I'm indicted for treason
Closin my eyes and I'm leakin, drag the knife til I'm bleedin
Cus its light that I'm seeking, feels only right that I'm meetin
With Jesus seeking redemption but he don't need my repentance
For he who feels my intentions sees that my deepest depression
Is feeding me to these demons that lurk and feed on my essence
The pain is deep in my chest and I keep repeatin my blessins
Ever since a meek adolescence that saw me beaten by freshmen
Parents repeatedly sentenced, heroin needles on dressers
They used to feed their infection, I can't repeat indiscretions
So I pause for reflection, long for honest affection
And gettin lost in the music is only soothin for stretches
Cus if you knew where my head is, when I'm doing these records
You'd never listen to my music again, I can't let you

Verse Of The Day

Masta Ace - Nostalgia

[2nd Verse]

You love to hear the story, again and again
How it all got started from beginning to end
When cats used to run in a pack and slaughter
The rooftop, Union Square and the latin quarter
And if you came alone than your chain was gone
Unless you was from the hood and your name was known (yap)
And even than you was taking a risk
They would rush you for your chain while you was taking a piss
Hip hop used to be so thick in the air
When it was there you ain't even needed to kick in a snare
It could have been finger snaps and hand claps
But nowadays it feels a little different when a man raps
The track commence and these cats are french
The media lacking sense, what I rap's intense AND
I be the best in these rap events
And how I got this far?
It's called experience, come on

Break it, Bop it, Niggas beat-boxin

The Cool Kids

Chuck Inglish on your left & Mikey Rocks on your right. The Chi-Town duo, The Cool Kids are making major waves in hip hop now a days. Even being dissed by jealous rappers that watch that got the similar buzz. Anyway these two are one of the reason I started this blog. They are inventive, creative with reminsce of the 80s & 90s with a WHOLE lot of BANG! From their banging beats to their smooth lyrics The Cool Kids are re-inventing the underground scene. Now I would call them hipster cause they seem to have a actually love & knowledge of Hip Hop. Be sure to look out for their new mixtape, "That's Stupid" dropping anyday now then on May 20 "The Bake Sale" EP & later this year their debut album "When Fish Ride Bicycles"

My Thoughts

I heard some promising things about this artist but never got around to checking him out till early this year. I wasn't disappointed a bit either. More then likely when you hear about this artist you'll hear all these comparsions and what not but only one can really hold weight. Kevin Micheal is like Kevin Micheal. Dude is so creative, talented & orginal. This album got looked over by alot of people but should be check out. Serious from the Hip Hop aspect this dude has Q-Tip, Wyclef & Lupe on his album. If that doesnt tell you something I dont know what does?

Oh NO!!! Not Jeanie!!!

Please tell me Jean isn't gone!

This what she posted on her myspace blog....

Everyone who has been on this ride with me since the beginning and continues to be a supporter of music that makes you feel something true and vulnerable and honest by being just that. It's been a wonderful and awful journey all at the same time. Mostly leaning towards the wonderful part..lol. Thank you for letting me share what I could with you and sharing yourselves back, as you have really been the reason that I kept on. It's always nice to know that you could be the voice of someone who didn't have one, or know just how to say it. No comment or letter or statement of appreciation has ever gone unnoticed. I love to write, I love to be able to create imagery and a world out of just words. I will always love what I consider to be true hip hop music... from the bottom of my soul. I hope you will continue to distinguish those who are contributors to the evolution of hip hop and other black music as both an auditory stimulation and a culture, taking care that they are put in a position to do so. Thank you listeners, whom I consider my friends and family.... Enjoy.... see y'all around.. It's been amazing.. thank you again. peaces..
Now I don't wanna jump to conclusion but she even erase all her pics till only one were she is blowing a kiss goodbye and her screen name to "Jean Grae Saying Peace Out"....Maliz will be hurt if this is true..... I wanna reach out to Jean to see whats up. Hopefully I'll get something. But if it true thank you Jean for great music...

Verse Of The Day

Shad - I Don't Like To..

[1st Verse]

I put the smack down like it's rehab
Make sure that there's no relapse with these cats
Cowards couldn't rap this dope with a zig zag
I let my lips drag, spitting with that big swag
It's sad all these wannabes
Wanted to be Jay then K. West
Wanna be star of the Roc(Rock)
Kid you're not Sean Connery
But like The Rock I'm surrounded by watery flows
Still it really don't bother me
Fake ballers, weak game, less polished than Bell Wallace's
While I breed quality music getting quality spins
They stay 2nd rate Chingy's at the Quality Inn
Now that's a joke to a real rapper
I could decrease the skill factor and still make you feel whacker
Ah gee, now you got me - cocky
Cats say 'you the illest' I'm like 'nah b nah b nah b... '
Well ok probably but that's just only cause I rap like it's my hobby
Not a jobby-job all sloppy and off-key
Y'all Mad as March trying to knock off the top-seed
I'm in the mix/Da Mix like Roxy
So hot he even get props from neo-Nazis
Now I don't really like to...

V.A.K.I.L.L

Now,I'm sure and hoping you've heard of Vakill,I would put him at the top of the MC food chain of MC's coming from Chi-Town.

With punchlines that leave you in awe and stories that make you respect the life this MC has lived,Vakill has dropped 2 Quality albums and 1 dope compilation album.
His 2 recent works The Darkest Cloud and Worst Fears Confirmed are nothing short of great.

Although some may bring up the fact his staying on a beat is off at times,But you will quickly find that thats a little pebble thrown in a lake of dopeness.

Heres some music of his to drown yourselves in..

Verse Of The Day

AZ - The Come Up

[2nd Verse]

You know the saga, who live or who hotter, who shot at who at the Vermada.
I know about beats since Bambata.
Before beat streetz, streetz were never knee deep with them Ryderz.
Gunz and money, someone was hungry, disfunctional family's that come from junkiez.
Jail birds whos wanted for warrants, jumpin countryz,
just tryna survive like a bunch of monkeyz.
Marked dollars, DEA narcs with collars,
niggaz snitchin and still got the heart to holla.
Hot chicks in short skirts and damn near topless.
Play fly and they gossip, stay high and just ride D(dick).
Cant call it, too fresh to sprawl it, two checks to roll with, grew up next to all this.
So understand, I know from first hand, and lies of a church man, high off his first gram.

Rain? Sunny? While it below 15? Must Be Silly Season!

First Off, I want to thank all that showed the site, Me & DG love over these long months. Thanks you for all the support from the PROHHS Duo...

Okay enough!

This is how I feel and my opinion so yeah...Hilary stop lying seriously. I co-sign with Phonte...Anyway those who are voting for Hilary please email me and tell me why? Seriously she is playing folks. She crys one day then goes all tough the next. Like a faucet just turning it on and off. Then she keeps attacking Obama and his preacher. Seriously just stop. She lies and was called out for it. And had some BS excuse. Yet they attack stuff Barack does and all his associates. Trying to come up with some way to stop him. Most of what was discover was so insufficient & didn't imply to Barack or what he can do for this country. Barack is trying to change america while Clintons trying to play politics continue the whole Clinton Regime. It gotta so bad that Republican are now siding with Clinton cause they believe they have a better chance at beating her then Obama. Some truly under-handed ish right? I Know. Straight up Hilary is doing whatever it takes to win now even if it's lying. Being deceive by the government is what us common Americans are sick of. So if she lied to get into office (by saying: Ill do etc...in my first 99 days in office" lol BS) then wouldn't she lie in office? Obama is being responsible by saying he do all that stuff but it takes times. Hilary is full of false promises. So support Change!

Now let me state after this all this non-sense Nas has started should be dead and will be on this site. First off Hip Hop is alive in the eyes of the beholder so forget that Hip Hop Is Dead ish...Dead it...............

next what is Nas thinking? Seriously dude is using anything to sell. Nigger? Then making a song about it like its a membership club? Get a grip Eso..He takes a permanent L as his career is so screwed up. Seriously his stupidity is worth my time.................

PROHHS does not support Nas's album, N**ger......

Verse Of The Day - Fire For The People

artist: Blue Scholars
song: Fire For The People
album: Bayani

In the wake of this non sense of Hilary & that Sean Bell situation....the whole song was relevent.

now what I spit, it’s medicine for the sick
an attempt to get a grip before it all starts to slip
and be the call and response from the bottomless pit
I remain nonchalant when the drama get thick
the last call, ballin’ up my palm in a fist
the most common misperception is this
drop and say why the show sign a line
hit the road hit some hoes videos
next you know, you’ll be bawlin and shit
but you’ll be calling it quits
when all the cards start to fall in the ditch
cause temptation is so hard to resist
no there’s no such thing as an unjustified existence
except perhaps a few thousand rappers in this business
finish what I start scientifically, strategically
specifically addressin’ the oblivion we livin' in
my brother and my sister and I’m speaking are you listening
freedom being imprisoned by the television image
if you let it instead get affected by your habitat
ask a few questions, quit a few bad habits and after that
handle this similar to how Xavier McDaniel did in ‘86
we’re talking just a little less shit
and lately being mindful of the babies I admit
but at nighttime I sit serenaded by the blues of a skyline hue
reminding me of a time when the old was new

and I spark a fire for the cold and the dark
peace and war both pumpin’ soul in my heart
and though they can’t keep what they stole from the art
and they love to see beef ‘cause it throws us apart
more fire for the people
say more jobs for the people
and more books for the people
and more music for the people

as the world hurls towards seven billion more listeners
seven hundred plus see the killed and held prisoners
seven thousand one hundred islands I been missing
cause I grind seven to five, at night I’m writing scriptures
as hot as the block as cold contradictions
pen drips with honesty I don’t offer fiction
go to competition the bone that they try to pick with me
and learn the moral lesson and marching forward to victory
no flag waving celebrating your (?)
you call it thanksgiving, we call it thankstaking
everybody looking for the ladder not the answer to the question
waiting till the cancer’s in regression
fresh from the northwest the hottest thing lately
like white celebrities buying black and brown babies
got the town crazy over beats rhymes and life
peace with adobo grease, eggs and brown rice

and I spark a fire for the cold in the dark
peace and war both pumpin’ soul in my heart
and though they can’t keep what they stole from the art
they love to see beef ‘cause it throws us apart
more fire for the people
more food for the people
more homes for the people
more clothes for the people
more schools for the people
more land for the people
more life for the people

yo, I’ve seen souls get sold so coldly
see what a dollar can do to the tiger that true
I speak boldly, composed of a melody told
whenever we hold the memory close
no telling when the reaper fed a post and snatch a fan
something that you can’t capture with the camera lense
a relation of the boulder and a hammerin' pen
the truth hurts, no wonder people rather pretend
I annihilate a fake persona for spare change
everybody, self included, is fair game
inherited the trait to make both ends meet
often make a brother feel like he gotta compete
but with each release I reach for peace
others quit to reach for the pigs from here to beacon to bridge
‘cause see, freedom of speech don’t apply if you’re silent
I shout like I’m trying to get heard on the island

and I spark the fire for the cold in the dark
peace and war both pumpin’ soul in my heart
and though they can’t keep what they stole from the art
and they love to see beef ‘cause it throws us apart
more fire for the people
more peace for the people
more life for the people
more love for the people
more love for the people
more love for the people
more love for the people

Verse Of The Day - Affirmative Action

artist: Nas ft. AZ, Cormega & Foxy Brown
song: Affirmative Action
album: It Was Written

[AZ the Visualiza]
Yo, sit back relax catchin contacts, sip your cog-nac
And let's all wash this money through this laundry mat
Sneak attack, a new cat sit back, worth top dollar
In fact, touch mines, and I'll react like a Rottweiler
Who pull the late, we play for high stakes at gunpoint
Catch em and break, undress em tie em with tape, no escape
The Corleone, fettucini Capone
Roam in your own zone or get kidnapped and clapped in your dome
We got it sewn, The Firm art of war is unknown
Lower your tone, face it, homicide cases get blown
Aristocrats, politickin daily with diplomats
See me I'm an official mack, Lex Coupe triple black

NYOIL & DJ Trackstar - 9 Wonders (The Mix CD)

Verse Of The Day

Gym Class Heroes - Food For Mic Skills

[1st Verse]

Travis been known to spit lyrical backflips on tracks with skate kicks
Osiris had the flyest but I'm all about Axion, Verbal bigspin
I Crooked grind your melon for not listenin',
I'm beyond regular, you stuck in fakie position
The funny thing is I don't skate but I'll deflate your whole ego
Manipulate your face and replace it with something uglier than
The product of Sha-nae-nae and Patrick Ewing havin' a baby
(Damn Travis you crazy) Nah just a little misunderstood
I got the planet in confusion, for the simple fact my vocabulary lacks the word losin'
Contusions are placed across the bodies of any challengers
I'll leave my mark then disappear like J.D. Salinger,
As whack emcee's continue scuffin' their knees,
Suckin' the dicks of A&R's just to get their platinum chains and cars,
I'ma keep on doin' my thing,
Broke as Macy Gray would be with a regular voice trying to sing,
Who wanna bring it to these Crab Apple affiliates,
Act silly and you'll get split down the middle like a Philly gets,
I've had enough of all these silent menaces,
I'm for peace but you'll get quickly deceased with violent sentences,
The only witnesses will be later notified to come identify the dental records of a kid offended mine,
you ain't a friend of mine so I suggest you call me Mr. McCoy
Hot shit will burn and blister you boy

Verse Of The Day: I (Mikey) Rock!

artist: The Cool Kids
song: I (Mikey) Rock
album: Totally Flossed Out EP

Mission complete for all those who don't know
Sienara to afros and old flows
The concept of rockin shows is so old
Just keep 'em off the wall like vans logos
Pull it together the spare change and hobos
Cause if you got change in your pocket
Then instantly the dames start flockin'
And if you'll show me to the stage
I rock.
Yea
Yes that song request, all I need is a mic and Inglish
Drop the beat all right I proceed to spit
Me and the beat start fightin with the snares and kicks
Now it's a riot on the track
Reason why is cause I'm fire and I'm hired to do that
And ii'm fire cause I'm liver then tha wire that was tired
Bought back from tha dead
Let it rest on ya head.

A Very Dope J.Dilla Tribute By Mari Torres

Peep it....

Thirsty?....

Well, Heres some fresh spring water that was flowing under your nose for a while,The Great Communication.
Released in 2007,A year IMO that was a fantastic year for hip-hop with all it's great albums. The Great Communication by Somobe,A duo consisting of Bob-J and Jon-D hailing from Las Vegas.

The Great Communication,Is just that,Great. With beats that are full and vibrant also something most underground heads aren't used to No Samples. Rather then taking away,It ADDS to the music, Giving it that whole-body sound to back up the dope rhymes which all equal a dope album.

But hey,Like usual,Why listen to my flapping fingers?...Decide for yourself. Think for yourself.

These songs should help you come to the conclusion that this is dope.

Kidz In The Hall - Drivin Down The Block (Video)

new video for Kidz In The Hall's single "Drivin Down The Block" with Cameo appearances from Rapheal, Leon Lonnie Love, Pacific Division & J.Davey. Album out May 13th....The In Crowd

Verse Of The Day

Tonedeff - Loyal

[2nd Verse]
What's your name again? I know, I knew it 2 seconds ago/
But, I don't recognize this 2nd face, though to the 1st it's identical/
You were the type that I put on a pedestal. Your acts were commendable/
But the bond of friendship isn't impenetrable/
And inevitably the blunt force of ego proved lethal/
To a good person forced to wallow in the shit of evil people/
Fundamentally filled with avarice, a cheat from the soul/
Spending their lives to make sure that you ain't achieving your goals/
Unreasonable kings that want to see you jump through rings of fire
For their own amusement, holding nooses - hoping trees are higher/
So abusive towards you that truce just doesn't seem required/
Cause, why play the game? When you can make the other team retire/
Strings are tirelessly pulled in your favor as you play the rumor creator,
Twisting words till they sound like statements you made up/
With a big grin you soak it all in, as former friends/
Go face to face with contradicting convictions/
Plots are thickening, cause you pitched in. You feel important, now?/
Must've been high as kite from snorting clouds/
Sorta proud of yourself, and the way you hold ya ground/
Distastefully wore the shroud, how's it feel to have puppets to order 'round/
But I saw through you, even before I found
How you would say 'no, beef', give me dap, and hit me with a quarter-pound/
Your loyalty's watered down, Bottled with a squirt cap/
But When the drama popped off, where the fuck were you to plug the cork back.

Bad News.....But I Still Love H.E.R.

Taken directly from Danny!'s blog....

Danny! said:

Sh*t always happens to me.

WTF.

Due to circumstances beyond my control -- a combination of situations involving distributors failing to list And I Love H.E.R. for sale in time for pre-ordering (which wound up partially being my fault for turning the album in later than expected), a much higher demand than expected leading to an additional pressing, and a stolen vehicle (!!!) -- the date for the new album has once again been pushed back y’all.

Ya, rly.

Fortunately, everything should be sorted out by the end of this month (as opposed to the three-month delay from before) so at the most it’ll be another two weeks before you’ll be able to cop And I Love H.E.R. I promise to keep y’all updated on e’rything. I’d really appreciate it if y’all stick with a brotha on this one. And no, I’m still not putting Dream, Extinguished out.

Good God, sometimes this independent sh*t ain’t all it’s cracked up to be, kids. Seriously. I’m sorry y’all

Verse Of The Day

Juggaknots - Clear Blue Skies...

1st Verse.
[Buddy Slim]
Damn it, son
I think its time we had a little man-to-man talking
I heard that you was hand-in-hand
Walking down the boulevard, middle of the day
With this Black chick
Tell me the truth, boy, or you can catch this slap quick

[The Brewin]
Let me get this straight
You're ranting and raving
Behaving like a mad dog with rabies
Because my baby's not white; that ain't right
Pops, you got me puzzled
Because in the past with Black folks you never struggled
At least to my knowledge

[Buddy Slim]
Your knowledge seems to need a little working
That little nigger bitch got you looking like The Jerk
And I can't another minute of you and that Black heifer, son
Looking sorta like Tom Willis from the Jefferson Show

[The Brewin]
What you know about my girl to try and slander
Let me talk a bit and maybe you can understand
The situation that I got isn't ?messing with somebody?
Cause this woman's taking care of both my mind and my body

[Buddy Slim]
Yeah, yeah, yeah, OK
I understand that she's attractive
Cause their bodies are just built to be sexually active
Baby-making taking tax money for their welfare
Or maybe up on 42nd with the bodies that they sell there
So what's her name?
Is it Shanainai or Shaquana?
Son, she's got to be a goner

[The Brewin]
Well I'm glad to see my father's in my corner

[Buddy Slim]

Oh, you think this shit is funny?
I ain't joking
That's the last straw, the camel's back has been broken

Five Deez Stay Blessin' It....

Five Deez is a dope group hailing from Cincinnati that flew under the radar for most heads out there. Consisting of Fat Jon,Pase Rock,Kyle David, And Sonic these "Four Black Dudes" have been making excellent music.

Don't worry though,It's not too late to get familiar with them. All together they've put out 4 Full albums(Koolmotor;Kinkynasti;Slow Children Playing;Kommunicator) And 1 EP(Secret Agent Number 005),Not to metion the Instrumental versions for Koolmotor,Kinkynasti,Kommunicator.

They've most def been working hard,It shows in their music.

Having collaborated with Nujabes,CYNE,Rakim,J-Live,Hieroglyfics...The list goes on,So they are not new to the underground scene.

If your familiar with Japanese Hip-Hop,You've heard of them a little,But I highly recommend their own albums.

Give them a listen,Trust,They will not disappoint.

Don't touch the deck of love, we was made in the image of God
We was formed out of the dust, when they finish the stars
I'm Israeli, and half alien, covered with skin
As a sperm learned to swim, now we flooded in sin
My results of DNA, was a sign of may day
When they looked and seen my X-Ray, they started to pray
My street team was seen in a dead man's dream
Go 'head, get ya green, til my album is king
No tribe can make music, like Judah bloodstream
Don't vow, make a promise to America's queen
They computering your offspring, with a vaccine
With the evidence of Genesis, the book of the genes
I'm the virus to the Internet, give it to knight us
Arthritis, to you writers, love to follow Osirus
More brighter than the lighters, that'll get in your iris
And spit gasoline rhymes, in the city of fire
My saliva's like lava, for hell's thermometer
On the mic, I'm two hundred and twelve in Fahrenheit
In kilometers, I travel, and burn your satellite
Come down and break bread, with the pharaohs at night

Verse Of The Day: Shook Ones Pt.2

artist: Mobb Deep
song: Shook Ones Pt.2
album: The Imfamous

[Prodigy]

I got you stuck off the realness, we be the infamous
you heard of us
official Queensbridge murderers
the Mobb comes equipped with warfare, beware
of my crime family who got nuff shots to share
for all of those who wanna profile and pose
rock you in your face, stab your brain wit' your nosebone
you all alone in these streets, cousin
every man for theirself in this land we be gunnin'
and keep them shook crews runnin'
like they supposed to
they come around but they never come close to
I can see it inside your face
you're in the wrong place
cowards like you just get they're whole body laced up
with bullet holes and such
speak the wrong words man and you will get touched
you can put your whole army against my team and
I guarantee you it'll be your very last time breathin'
your simple words just don't move me
you're minor, we're major
you all up in the game and don't deserve to be a player
don't make me have to call your name out
your crew is featherweight
my gunshots'll make you levitate
I'm only nineteen but my mind is old
and when the things get for real my warm heart turns cold
another nigga deceased, another story gets told
it ain't nothin' really
hey, yo dun spark the Phillie
so I can get my mind off these yellowbacked niggas
why they still alive I don't know, go figure
meanwhile back in Queens the realness is foundation
if I die I couldn't choose a better location
when the slugs penetrate you feel a burning sensation
getting closer to God in a tight situation
now, take these words home and think it through
or the next rhyme I write might be about you

Pac Div is one of the fore front groups bring that real hip hop back with their own style. Verse Of The Day: Gangsta Boogie

artist: Pete Rock ft. Slum Village
song: Gangsta Boogie
album: NY's Finest

sorry but i couldn't decide which verse was better so i'm both of them....

[Elzhi]
You now rockin' with best, to get the snot blocked
within they chest concot not with the oxygen & breath
Study the man the way you might of done an exam
I'm a G like ten hundred, one lump summer's a grand
Some of them planned to stop me shinin'
the vendetta's got me rhymin', forever like a rocky diamond
Disturbin' the thinking, highschool I'm serving them geeks
Murder the Inc like Ja Rule & Irv when they linked
Catch El holding his tip, scrotum his grip
even when I'm not controlling my slip
full with the grip, poetry spit
By yours truly, is a treat pidgeon feet groupie whore
screw me in a suite in Venice Beach, you know my MO
Trim fro, brim low, gyms glow, Timbo slim hoe in my limo
imagine it I'll have you click & your management
Disappear & vanish half as quick as a magic trick
a throat slitter you in the prescense of danger
I'm old school like dope dealers that dress with a pager
in my profession I write definite bangers that leave you

[Elzhi]
Pimpin' I'm back, sippin' the yack, grippin' the stack
tippin' my hat, limpin' the Lac
Rippin' the track, pimpin' I'm back
and this time I'm hungry for the jackpot
I'm tryna blow at least one junkie in the crackspot
this bread winner spread lead in ya
Ya bleed from red from that hair splitter
it shares from the dead thinner, they should of told you
and said I burnt vocals when letters squirt
redder skirt, Red Alert, cold blue you either kneel
or get knocked to the floor, glock near the sock of the drawer
lockin' the door, now I'm on the block owning stock, rockin velour
shockin' I'm sure, forgotten how my pockets is poor
true to the art, rip tools & chew `em apart
skip school to rip fools but the student was smart
you will never see a nother nigga like me bruh
to spit a rap to spin ya fitted cap on your caesar
I must the nicest on dusty devices
lit a dutchie to write this & trust me it's priceless
you wish you wrote this way
I'm A-1, you could hope & pray Jehovah's way
like a old & gray nun, but it's no chance it's never fair
To slow dance with Fred Astaire with a full head of hair
twisted like reppin' the West with your finger

Verse Of The Day

The Pharcyde - Somethin' That Means Somethin'

1st Verse

Wasn't a black prophet wasn't in it for the profit
had a talk with Charlie Brown, he was like yo man get off it
It's a business
the record companies are quick to end the fantasy
your trapped in and he tapped in my frequency
now I'm frequently going
over such and such ends that such and such owes
It's later for the fly girls and hoes
cause in this capitalistic society money is all
fuck continuing college, I was too small to play ball
so I grabbed the MIC device never thought about it twice
If you think this is a game nigga you better think twice...
I gotta kick somethin that means somethin
somethin
somethin that means somethin
somethin that means somethin
