Bio:

After crash landing, Tony Moon was horrified to find a world populated by humanoid billboards, devoid of all original thought, capable only of regurgitating the advertisements transmitted on all detectable and subconscious frequencies by the fascist media moguls hidden in the shadows.

As the populous drained their own true wealth building increasingly sophisticated weapons and fighting sadistic wars for the privilege of marketing the devil diamond, Mr. Moon, holed up in a secret bunker, began using his knowledge of the lost language to transmit a pirate frequency. His dense lyrics, previously undecipherable, were designed with one purpose; to overwhelm and short circuit the microchiped population.

The appearance of small pockets of awakened individuals alerted The Beast to Mr. Moon's whereabouts. His laboratory was set ablaze and the body of his work, immediately classified as a dangerous hallucinogen, was stolen in order to create an antidote.

A*QWAY*LEO

The fairly unknown duo hailing from Houston called Aqualeo had quite a buzz that has now died down. But their creativity shouldn't go unappreciated. Much isn't known about the talented duo of Acie & Priceless. They do have a album out called Blue Flame which released in 2005. Unfortunately its on backorder so I haven't gotten my hands on it. But it seems they have went on a hiatus. But they are suppose to have another album coming called StarStuck (the cover is above). The singles for that LP is Cadillac & Passanger Seat. These two songs have gotten alot of attention and buzz. Namely Cadillac which was featured on many tapes back when it released. I dont know the status of "Starstuck" as of now but I will definitely find out something for ya. Ill keep you updated as I found out more info.

Grand Damn Neezy!

Che Grand out of Brooklyn, NY. Now an affiate with Tanya Morgan has caught some dim light of attention. After releasing the Fixtape he create some buzz mostly from those already familiar with TM, Kay, SFP, Spec Boogie & so on. He also has a EP called The Official Bootleg Import EP which flew under many radars (even mine for a while). The EP is a great doormat to the house Che's creativity. With bangers like Gold Chains, Trainspottin & Naija Interval (Turned Out). Che gives a little snippet of what is to expect for his debut album, Everything's Good Ugly.

With singles like uptempo Swing & hyped Crash how could anyone overlook this album. Yet with a release date. Che has released a few more songs. Girl Talk a real retro smooth type joint almost indescribable and Gift Wrap a lyrical kick in the neck. Both are definite head nodders. With guest verses with Tanya Morgan, Danny!, Spec Boogie & others the anticipation grows even more. Hopefully EGU will release soon as it is sure to make major waves in the indie water that is sure to catch a few glances from the mainstream.

Digging more into his music, Brother Ali has several release & the growth between each one is astonishing. But the most exciting thing about Ali is now a day rappers speck on the government through some half-ass subliminal rap while Ali goes straight at them on some Dead Prez shit. Janelle is so talented. Recently signed to Bad Boy Records but she not your typical Bad Boy artist. She use her imagination & creativity which has her turning many heads. Janelle is just a talented as she is cute...

She is so sexy. Something about her....

Before she was signed with Bad Boy. You may remember hearing Janelle on Outkast's Idlewild album. Janelle also had a project called "The Audition EP" featuring her first single "Lettin' Go". She was more of the reg then cept her talent was still phenomenal. But either side of Janelle easily is better then majority of artist out now.

Her hair can be a indiction of her transformation but like I said both are great. I know I'm drifting off the subject & focusing on her appearance. But when your that attractive it's hard. Her music is the main attraction to her. Her looks seal the deal in my opinion.

Now Janelle is experiementing with a a project of suite releases. This abstract concept has garnered the praise of many . At the end of these suite release is her debut solo album which is scheduled to drop in this Fall. Currently Janelle is working on her first music video, Many Moon. So with all that said. A Emcee from Houston who has worked with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Tanya Morgan, Strange Fruit Project & most notably Nicolay. Yes, this is Kay from Time:Line. Well Kay isn't a rookie he actually released his first solo album in 2005. Kay has been critized for his lyricism on Time:Line, well I satisfied as Kay wanted a more straight forward appoach as the concept of the album it self was mind boggling (in a good way) enough. Kay is also apart of The Foundation which is live hip-hop band also signed to the Rawkus 50 imprint.

The group is comprised of Remo and Novej. Remo is from New Jersey and Novej a/k/a Bless the Child is from North Carolina. Any mention of Boston is probably in reference to Boston Projects which is one of the projects here in Winston-Salem. Both members of the group actually live in Winston-Salem, and 9th Wonder is from Winston-Salem, so it was inevitable that they would meet.

A.L.L.I.E.S. stands for A Lesson Learned In Every Song. We hope to being a lot more work with 9th Wonder in the future, as he has signed them to a deal with his production company, with the hopes of getting them signed to a major label. I don’t know if distribution will actually make it to LA for the mixtape, but I will certainly keep you in mind when the time comes.

Murder One Platoon or M1 Platoon for short has swept the internet underground with the backing of 9th Wonder himself. 9th has a great eye for talent and this is a example. 5 fun loving guys from DC making some great hip hop. Bio:
Kooley High is the product of five friends meeting on the bricks of NC State University with a passion for hip-hop. What started out as a hip-hop club, founded by 3/5 of the group, soon turned into an interest to make fresh music with each other. With the three emcees, Charlie Smarts, Rapsody, and Tab-One, and two producers, Foolery and The Sinopsis, this group plans to further establish the "North Carolina sound". Hip-hop isn’t new to these guys, both Charlie Smarts and Tab-One are also in the live, roots driven hip-hop band Inflowential, and Rapsody (you might have heard her on the interludes of 9th Wonder’s - The Dream Merchant Vol. 2) is a part of 9th Wonder’s "It’s A Wonderful World" record label. With the guidance of Justus League founders 9th Wonder and Cesar Comanche, Kooley High plans to turn NC into the new m.e.c.c.a. for hip-hop

My Thoughts:
Kooley High, one of the newest underground act hailing from the state of NC. With the backing and co-signing of 9th Wonder. They must have some that he likes and after hearing their newest project you can certainly see. The Summer Sessions EP is one of the most refreshing taste of hip hop in 08. This EP has everything a music lover would love. Lyrics, Smooth, Concepts, Laughs & some head nodding beats. All the songs have their own style and concept. Production wise the 8-Track EP is split with 3 beats each for Foolery & Sinopsis. With the remaining two by 9th. The most notable song is Water produced by 9th featuring Lazurus & Edgar Allen Floe. I can find no dents in the armor K. High carry proudly through the streets of NC. Rapsody the pack of dynamite you might have heard on Dream Merchant 2. Tab-One who is also in the lived hip hop band, Inflowtential. Charlie Smarts also in that live band and was featured on Chaundon's Carnage LP. Foolery & Sinopsis the two beatsmiths who showcased their marvelous stylings on the EP and also producing songs for 9th's other prodigies, M1 Platoon. But together, Sinopsis, Foolery, Rapsody, Tab-One & Charlie Smarts create Kooley High a group that will soon be a household name.

Who is Tanya Morgan?


Although the name evokes something of a neo-soul songstress, the music is overtly hip hop. Tanya Morgan is a group comprised of Von Pea and Ilwil (Ilyas and Donwill) - two totally separate acts, with additional production by Brickbeats. Within the span of a year, the collective of four recorded all the material that would become their debut, Moonlighting and go on to be listed in Questlove's Top 10 album of 2006. The tightly knit 13-song set is bound together by the story of a misled record shopper and his unwanted purchase. The albums title is a nod to the fact that Tanya Morgan is really two acts in a group together who are, in a sense, moonlighting on their respective jobs by working with each other. In promotion for this grand opening, the group released two projects: Sunlighting and the Sunset EP. The bandwidth busting download that is Sunlighting plays like a mixtape in a sense yet still showcases the groups personality and presence while the Sunset EP boasts original production by Von Pea and Brickbeats.

But where did Tanya Morgan come from? After landing XXL magazine's Show and Prove section their debut LP Moonlighting was released on Loud Minority Music to much critical acclaim. The album recieved 3.5 mics in the Source magazine, the Chariman's Choice column in XXL magazine, a highly coveted spot in Wax Poetics magazine and several other publications and websites. The video for their second single 'We Be' aired on channels such as MTV Jams, Much Music and hip hops first VJ Ralph McDaniel's television show The Bridge.The group has since played Toronto's NXNE Festival with Dice Raw's new group Noveau Riche and the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival with the likes of Ghostface Killah, Large Professor, Consequence and a host of others. They are also regulars at New Yorks annual CMJ Festival. In addition to attending the 2007 Power Summit in Las Vegas to compete (and subsequently win) Myspace Music/XM's 'Show Us What You Got' Competition and taking home 'Best Music Video' out of a batch of 3 total nominations at the Ohio Hip Hop Awards the group has just wrapped up its second national tour throughout the southeast US and their new song 'Walk This Way' can be found in regular rotation on XM Radio and several college radio stations.

Tanya Morgan will be releasing 3 projects in 2008. Aside from a yet to be named mixtape collaboration with DJ Soul, their official sophomore album 'Brooklynati', will be preceeded by an ep named 'The Bridge' that is meant to not only help familiarize new listeners with their sound but also to serve as an appetizer to the full course meal that is 'Brooklynati'. On 'Brooklynati' fans can expect to find more of the same thing that initially made them fall in love with Tanya Morgan and hip hop in general. But what should newcomers to the sound expect? Simply put they should expect the unexpected. From A Tribe Called Quest to Tha Alkaholiks to Leaders of the New School to The Pharcyde to De La Soul, the comparisons drawn have been numerous however the sound is unmistakeably their own. Panacea / Restoring Poetry In Music

Panacea (Consists Of Raw Poetic & K-Murdock, started as a side project for Raw Poetic but gain popularity before their hip hop live band, Restoring Poetry In Music)

Their sound has been described as "A Tribe Called Quest meets Final Fantasy", and some listeners have even made comparisons to The Roots and Outkast. But forget a classification, this is just exceptionally good, unique, and timeless music. Panacea is based out of the Washington DC area where producer K-Murdock, a Maryland native, has provided his fantasy hip-hop soundscapes for soul singers such as Raheem DeVaughn and W. Ellington Felton. Emcee Raw Poetic, a long time resident of Northern Virginia who originally hails from Philadelphia, has been rhyming since the age of 14. His natural, almost conversational flow and signature storytelling lyrics fit perfectly with K-Murdock's soulful and sometimes spacey compositions. Their obvious chemistry is incredibly rare, and favors such accomplished duos as Gangstarr and Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Whether they're in the studio composing music at a prolific rate comparable to legendary jazz pianist Bob James in the 70s, or on stage performing live backed by Virginia-based progressive hip-hop band RPM (www.rpmband.com), Panacea has all musical bases covered!

Restoring Poetry In Music

Restoring Poetry in Music (RPM) was formed late last century by cousins Jason Moore (Raw Poetic) and Marlon Vann (H2A). Toiling in their basement spawned demos and an EP entitled "Transitions," which sparked interest and meetings with record executives, including those at Columbia Records. In these meetings the duo heard the same critique: "You're too Hip-Hop for Rock and too Rock for Hip-Hop." Frustrated, but not discouraged, RPM ignored this limited perception of what modern music should sound and look like and pressed on with their vision of RPM. As they evolved musically, they began doing something that further complicated their definition and classification: they added members; they created a band. Bassist Drew Thomas (known in certain circles by the acronym B.E.S.S) was the first addition. Keyboardist, trumpeter and bassist Aaron Gause (Enron) and classically trained guitarist Patrick Fritz (P-Fritz) soon followed, as did drummer Fred Jackson.

Not long after forming, Fred left to dedicate himself to his university studies. His replacement, Blake Surbey, entered the fold, but was soon replaced by Will Bobbit, an accomplished gospel drummer. In time, co-founding member H2A decided that he too had to part ways with the band. H2A's departure left a considerable void in RPM, but through acquaintance and good fortune, Kyle Murdock (K-Murdock) stepped in and pushed RPM even further into musical experimentation. Over the next three years, RPM played up and down the east coast, creating a name for themselves and opening for such acts as Rahzel, Ozomatli and Little Brother among others, recorded and released the full-length album, Dream Awake, and began work on a follow up album entitled Pyramids in Moscow once again with original producer H2A. During this period, producer K-Murdock and emcee Raw Poetic collaborated on a side-project, a resurrection of one of Murdock's earlier groups, called Panacea. Panacea toured, though not as extensively as RPM, and recorded the full-length album, Thinking Back Looking Forward.

For one reason or another the Panacea project lead to a deal with independent label Glow-In-The-Dark Records, home most notably of Time Machine, in the fall of 2005. At this same time, band dynamics being what they are, RPM imploded. Will Bobbit quit to devote more time to his wife and children, while Drew Thomas moved westward to pursue other artist inspirations. The loss of these members, as well as the initial time demands on Raw Poetic and K-Murdock, as a result of the Panacea project, shook and led RPM to take a hiatus from the scene.

During the fall and winter of 2005 Glow-In-The-Dark Records released Thinking Back Looking Forward as an EP while Panacea continued and finished work on their first full-length for Glow-In-The-Dark Records, "Ink Is My Drink, which was released in the fall of 2006. In the plotting of a more emotive live show, Raw Poetic rounded up surviving RPM members Enron and P-Fritz and reformed RPM to perform as the Panacea band.

RPM is an unsigned 5-piece band with 30 tracks in the works for its second full-length album Pyramids in Moscow. RPM is also the band that plays all of Panaceas music live on stage.
