Remind Me In 8 Days...

8 Days since I last posted something...lol. Not alot has happened though. But I would like to take this chance and tell you that The Knux will probably be the next big thing in music. The Hollywood By Way Of New Orleans group is signed on Interscope and their new album is the shit. I've been bumping it all last week. But I'm definitely ordering it and it releases Oct 28. To be honest alot of comparsions could be made about this group but none should be applied because it would only limit their potential in people's mind since they'll hold them to the golden standard set by their predecessors. Anyway I feeling this album and highly recommend it. Also recommend checking out 14kt's new album which is bananas. I ordered it off iTunes so unfortunately no stream but preview it and you'll see. "Without Dilla (Donut 4 Dilla)" is whoa....on some classic Dilla ish.

Yahzarah's Prelude

So I was just searching iTunes and I find out the beautiful songstress released an project call The Prelude EP. So I couldn't resist so I bought it. If you heard The Minstrel Show you've heard the wonderful sounds of her voice. But you've probably remember the name from her collaboration on the Foreign Exchange's Connected album. Well she back in full effect prepping for her next album, The Ballad of Purple St. James. Yahzarah gives us a little piece of magic to hold us off till then. The Prelude EP is a excellent introduction to her music for new fans but its a wonderful showing and her most hardcore fan will be greatly satisfied. Yahzarah deliver a duet with Raheem Devaughn and frequent collaborator Phonte. This EP honestly is nothing short of amazing and I highly recommended you check it out as you won't regret throwing a 8 bucks for it....

Rock N Ruck...

So I was headed out to the imfamous PV versus Grambling game out here in Dallas. So since I know certainly type of music can get my woman and her two friends to hush. I put in Heltah Skeltah in for my one homie (2 dudes and 3 girls in my Honda Civic that been on beast mode since my last tune up, lol). Anyway this was my third time hearing the whole LP through and its just now settling. Well since they annouced this album back when Jesus Price Superstar came out. I had this pre-conceived idea on how this album would be, RAW HARDCORE LYRICALLY FUNNY ISH...

(lol, watch Buckshot get DOWN!!...oh and Im also happy to hear that Buck is out the hospital...a week late but im still happy.)

Well I was right...I put this on the best of the year list on the left but as far as group releases go, shis is one of the best. Sean Price killed that shit with ease as Rock bounced back from a meh "album/mixtape or whatever you want to call" attempt. Rock is probably on the more underrated of the group but he is as good or better then Sean...I wish they put some Black Milk in the boards and a guest verse from Guilty...but no matter this is great LP for anyone who just wanna wyle out to some hard drums and hard flows....

Just A Stone's Throw Away

"Green card wack MCs that talk foreign" - Guilty Simpson

So ever since I listened to Madlib's new album. I've been bumping that, Ode to The Ghetto, The Shining, Jay Loves Japan, Champion Sound, Liberation, Madvillany and other ish from Stones Throw fam. But finally I think I've reach the full appreciation of their music. The more I examine I see that they have abstract but unique flows over some absolute amazing production. Raw Shit by Jaylib featuring Talib Kweli is some epic shit. Honestly I'm shocked that I don't hear that much about Champion Sound. The Shining has always been a long time favorite. Individual tracks are those tracks from Donuts that MF Doom, Guilty, Ghost, Tip & Kweli jumped on. Sniper Elite/Murder Goons is a great mix. Maybe all this is in preparation to the new MF Doom album supposely coming out later this month. Hopefully but not looking too good but anyway I hope we get some more Stones Throw before the year closes out. Supposedly Guilty Simpson & Madlib got a EP coming out called O.J. Simpson EP....lol (OJ = Otis Jackson = Madlib). So I'll go back to listening to my Stones collection and enjoy...

Got Me Stuck In The Friend Zone

So more and more I've been feeling TiRon. A while back I posted his mixtape " Handshakes & Pounds" but ever since he dropped that he seems to be on a constant grind. I too sure if he dropping a new tape, EP or album but the recent tracks he's leaked are dope as hell. I can easily relate to his music as I've used a wingman, threw my money and been stuck in the "Friend" zone. So I feel his song usually quoting him atleast for a hour while at work to pass the time. He's got a real laid back flow and unlike others TiRon probably live his muss so you can sense the passion in the lyrics..and to top off the desert of great music, he got some great production to flow over...

After The Love Has Gone....

What will you do?

Will you run and hide in the shadows?

Will you search the truth? Or will you ignore it?

Will you become a hypocrite?

Which ever one you do you can't hide the fact that music is in the eyes of the beholder. Your love or interest isn't dying you are.

The music seems bland and nothing stands out to you anymore as if your heard it all before. Why maybe this is the extinction of the musical artist. Or is it just you?

What can you do to counter your musical illness?

This Is My Song...And No Can Take It Away

This is my song
And no one can take it away
It's been so long, but now you're here,
here to stay
And I wonder if you know what it means
To find your dreams come true

When I first heard "I Wonder" from Kanye West's Graduation album. I instantly fell in love with the beginning sample and wondered who exactly it was and where it's from. Well after some reasearch I found out and I found the mp3 over at "Kevin Nottingham". This song is getting alot of attention due to Kanye's sample of it. The song is My Song by Labi Siffre from his Crying Laughing Loving Lying LP. The entire album is something every music listener would enjoy.

Here are the lyrics if you'd like to sing along....and the mp3.

Labi Siffre - My Song

This is my song
And no one can take it away
It's been so long, but now you're here,
here to stay
And I wonder if you know what it means
To find your dreams come true

This is my song
And no one can make it a lie
It's been so long since someone
Could make me cry
And I wonder if you know what it means
To laugh as tears go by

I may not always sing in tune
And sometimes you don't hear me
But you don't have to be near me
To know that I'm singing

This is my song
And nothing can make it die
It's been so long and it's stronger
I know why
And I wonder if you really, really know
That as long as I live I will sing my song for you

Something great you missed in 07'

You ever listen to an album and be like,"Damn,When the hell did this come out!!!" ?....

I found myslef saying this while hearing Transitions and just being in a state of overall enjoyment.Arts the Beatdoctor is a very jazzy producer who comes from The Netherlands with a unique sound that you just can't deny and to be honest,I don't really know that much more about him, His music really speaks for him. From his myspace description,You kinda get a feel for his personality.....

Residents in the area of Hilversum, The Netherlands, have reported seeing a certain shady figure lurking about the local hospital. This individual is dressed in some sort of freakish doctors’ attire, including coat, stethoscope and a scalpel the size of a small sword. It’s rumored that he has been able to infiltrate the medical staff, referring to himself as ‘a new kind of medical expert’ called a ‘Beatdoctor’. All that is known so far is that he goes about the hospital, indiscriminately prescribing unhealthy doses of cinematic, dark and melancholic hip-hop beats to unsuspecting patients. When confronted with these reports, the medical staff has been quick to distance itself from the practices of this shadowy individual, describing his brand of medicine as ‘unusual’, ‘evocative’, and in some cases even ‘dangerous’. The point of his experimental treatments, and the side-effects they might have for his test subjects have seen rampant speculation from keen observers in the field. Now it seems his plans can finally be revealed…

Transitions is a super smooth LP that was released in 2007 that is sure to shake heads up with its almost organic pace. While having some MC's spit on a few tracks, Where this album really shines is in the instrumental joints, Songs that will straight have you vibing with them.

As you can tell,I like this album alot. I'm sure you will to if you give it a listen,But hey why listen to a lowly islander?...Listen for yourself. Think for yourself.
