02. Wild & Wreckless
03. If One Falls ft. Eleon
04. That Filling ft. Freeway
05. Looking Up ft. Bilal
06. Single Now

15. Gotta Love It ft. Tarentz Moreese
16. Ghetto People ft. Richard Raw, Kamachi & State Store
17. Afro (Lude)
18. Muhsinah Outro

Another one of my personal favorites from last year. Hezekiah is a great MC and an overall soulful dude. This album opens with some funky drums, the smooth singing of Muhsinah & Heze rippin down the booth. Essentially setting the whole tone of album. But the track after, "Wild & Wreackless" backs up that message with a little more thump in the lyrics of Heze. The rest of the album follows a funky soul vibe as the influences of Dilla is evident. Heze also says he wrote "Wild & Wreakless" the day Dilla passed. Possibly a good friend with the late legend. Neverthe less Heze rhymes like it's his last day on earth and the overall quality of the music it awesome. The guest appearances basically criminally slept-on singers, musicans, MCs & Bilal. Honestly if you haven't heard this album I suggest you cop it off Amazon. Hope Heze got some project coming soon...Oh by the way the awesome production is from Hezekiah himself.

16. Shake ya Body feat. SFP and Pikahsso

Usually I don't do Spotlight albums on a album so recent but I thought since I'm really feeling this album and I haven't shared my final thoughts about it on the site. So I made a exception to that. As a fellow native of the great state of Texas I respect S1 for not fitting into the typical Texas sound. He invents his own sound and presence with this album. This album really makes me wonder when will we see another SFP album? It would be crazy ish. S1 stepped up his beat game and M1 & Myth have been spitting vicious lately. This album is sprinkled with gems throughout. After the album is done I was satisfied but feel I might of over hyped it a bit but was definitely worth the purchase.

Unfortunately since I purchased off iTunes. I can't up the songs so you'll have to take action to hear this album. You won't be disappointed.

My Thoughts
The classic from Big Punisher one if not the best lyricist to ever live. Pun was a beast and no body fucking with him cept Big L other then that nope. This album has so many point were I was like WOAH from something Pun said. He was on point throughout the album and even stood against one of the best lyricist LIVING, Black Thought but Black could touch Pun. The songs that got me to listen was a combo of his single, Still Not A Player & the Fat Joe assisted joint, Twinz (Deep Cover '98). Thats when I heard the Little Italy line which was highlk talked about when speaking on Pun. My favorites songs are the three fore mentioned songs, Beware, You Ain't A Killer, Caribbean Connection, Capitial Punishment & Not A Player. I consider this a classic (classic is purely opinion based) and recommend everyone check it if you haven't.

Spotlight Album: The Mouse & The Mask

(UK)
DangerDoom - The Mouse & The Mask

1. El Chupa Nibre
2. Sofa King
3. The Mask Feat Ghostface
4. Perfect Hair
5. Benzie Box Feat Cee-Lo
6. Old School Feat Talib Kweli
7. A.t.h.f
8. Basket Case
9. No Names
10. Crosshairs
11. Mince Meats
12. Vats Of Urine
13. Space Hos
14. Bada Bing

My Thoughts
I love DangerMouse, I love MF Doom so I adore this album and collaboration. The album has such a abstract style that may turn the normal listener away. You have to listen closely to fully understand what Doom is saying and don't get distracted by the wonderful sounds of DangerMouse. Lyrically the album is on point cause Doom in my opinion is always on point. Don't let the whole Doom says senseless things that mean nothing blah blah crap full your head when approaching this album. Doom has a abstract way to deliver a message. The album has a central flow of events that some may refer to as a storyline. With the vocal asisstance of Talib Kweli, Ghostface Killah, Cee-Lo & the Adult Swin team this album is well excuted as the two masters at their craft produce one of their individually best album (one of the best albums from each DangerDoom).

Spotlight Album: Chain Letters

Supastition - Chain Letters
1. Chain Letters (Intro)
2. Don’t Stop
3. Split Decisions
4. Soul Control feat. Little Brother
5. Rise
6. That Ain’t Me
7. Hate My Face
8. Special Treatment
9. A’int Going Out

12. Yesterday Everyday feat. DMinor
13. Nickled Needles
14. Appreciation
15. Blood Brothers f/ Seven
16. Always f/ Can’t Tell
17. Soul Control (Solo Version)

My Thoughts
Supastition turned many heads with this 2005 release. Chain Letters is a great introduction to the lyrical thought stream of Supastition. Adressing many different life problems and situations that happen to him. Also showing praise to the musical expression that shine light in his day. As you'll hear frequent in Chain Letters, Supastition addresses the critques who continue to hold him to his Deadline (EP) period. Asking for another Deadline cause it was this and that. Well I attempt grown & see the musical growth of Supa from Deadline to Chain Letters. This album is one of favorite from 2005. I strongly recommend everyone to check it out.

My Thoughts
There is alot of talk about the future of hip hop. Well look no farther then PackFM. The Brooklyn MC from the Qn5 label. A master of Punchlines. Pack put together one of the best albums in the last 5 years. The flow of the album into each song is brillant. No gimmick shit just dope concepts like Clik Clak Spray or the title track. Pack has been on multiple verses of the day on this site. Since he album has quotables of days. I give this album alot of praise because its a truly brilliant album if you take the time to listen and absorb the lyrics. I recommend every not only take a listen to this album but to buy a copy of it. UGHH.com

15. Work For Wealth (Ft. Ragen Fykes & Barry Hampton Of Triple Grip)
16. The Platypus Strut
17. Freak Out!!!
18. Gone With The Wind

My Thoughts
One-Third of the Lightheaded crew with Braille & Othello. The multi-talented Ohmega Watts churned a excellent piece of music out. Producing the entire is himself well spitting some very remember able & poetic lyrics that tease yet feed the mind. I've had this album in rotation and perhaps the best out of the round of solos from Lightheaded (Braille releasing The IV Edition & Othello releasing Alive At The Assembly Line). Very laid back smooth type hip hop to nod your head to while plotting your next move in life. The best song easily being the last track, "Gone With The Wind". Other songs like Model Citzen, Dedicated, Memory Lane & Whats It Worth are stand-out tracks. I highly recommend copping this album.

13 Setting The Example
14 At My Own Pace
15 Peace I'm Out The Door
16 Never Off (On & On) (Insight Remix)

My Thoughts
Insight & Damu The Fudgemunk are Y-Society. The classic MC/DJ combo create another slept on album. Well Insight is a frequent collaborator with Boston crew Project Move. You might remember my rants about (Radio) Raheem Jamal. Anyway this album is classic hip-hop. I can see this being created in the 90's but it just doesn't recreate the old times it adds a new age twist of lemon to it. Which is much appreciated since they don't over do the re-creation thing. Its a good balance in content. Each beat is noticeably different while Insight's flow which up on each one and also different points on those songs. Showing his skills to ride the beat. Production is on point but eventually I got bored since each songs is somewhat length as the last minute is stratching and mixing. Some songs last 5 minutes and longer. Nothing that big but some I noticed. But support these guys they are extremely talented.

Spotlight Album: The Old Prince

Shad - The Old Prince

01. Intro
02. I Don't Like To
03. What We All Want
04. Brother Watching
05. Now A Daze
06. The Old Prince Still Lives At Home
07. Out Of Love Part Two
08. Interlude
09. I Heard You Had A Voice Like An Angel
10. Compromise
11. Exile
12. Get Up
13. Outro

My Thoughts
Shad is a virtually unheard of artist out of London. Full name being Shadrach Kabango. Shad might have missed my "They Are The Future" list. He still deserves alot of attention that he still doesn't get especially having one of the better album of 07. Mostly cause he is from outside of USA. Anyway this album has great production as you'll probably take note of that very early in the album while Shad lyrically you won't be impressed till "Brother Watching". Shad is very sincere with his concepts and lyrics. Nothing is really missing from this album. But some of the songs kinda ride the mediocre line so they just blend in and don't stand out. Still Shad delivered a great effort and I strongly recommend everyone to cop or least check it out....

Along with Panacea's Scenic Route, Panacea's Raw Poetic releases album with his live hip-hop band in 2007. Together they are called Restoring Poetry To Music. This isn't their first album around but my favorite. Musically beautiful this album is as Raw Poetic spitting some poetic lyric over these amazing arrangements of music. Addressing many topic these album can easily make you reminisce, dream and wonder. I love every song on this album. Definitely slept on but hopefully this will shine some light on it. This is a absolute must have for any hip-hop fan. Something that will soothe your soul.

More then likely when you hear about this artist you'll hear all these comparsions and what not but only one can really hold weight. Kevin Micheal is like Kevin Micheal. Dude is so creative, talented & orginal. This album got looked over by alot of people but should be check out. Serious from the Hip Hop aspect this dude has Q-Tip, Wyclef & Lupe on his album. My Thoughts
My first listen to Hell Razah was out of pure curiosity. It turned out to be a good look. This album was one of the best of 07. So far is my favorite Wu Affiliate album along with Bronze Nazareth's album. This album features MF Doom, Talib Kweli, Killah Priest, Bronze Nazareth, Ras Kass & more...So how could anybody pass up this? Well this album is touches on alot of level mostly on the higher-level type shit. My favorite song being Lost Ark where Hell str8 rips it on the conscience tip. UFO got invisible shield & what not. This album is awesome. Lyrically Hell Razah is a monster, the production is great and the concepts are well done. The guest appearances are well placed and done. The best guest appearance is fro Hell Razah's close friend Killah Priest on Smoking Gunz..Pick up this albu you wont regret.

18.) Tour Of Duty- Hall Of Justus (Produced By Khrysis)
19.) Do It Again- The Away Team & Chaundon (Produced By Khrysis)

My Thoughts
The first official collaboration album from the HOJ team. A label started by Big Dho. HOJ has been making major moves since their star group Little Brother hit the higher underground scene. With artist like Chaundon, Jozeemo, Joe Scudda, LEGACY & etc.. Also HOJ has been collabin with Duck Down. Anyway this album is extremely dope for a compilation. Not many get as good as this. The lead single is Life Of The Party by Little Brother & Carlitta Durand. This album also is the first introduction to newcomer Jozeemo who was locked up for a while. He even has the chance to grace a track with Sean Price. Alot of other artist as in Trae, Vandalyzm, E.Jones,Cormega & more excerise their talent on this one. This album is dope so check it out and watch out for more HOJ.

One of my favorite underrated artist, Kenn Starr check him and stop the Lupe comparisons.

My Thoughts
The last album that ATCQ released. One of my personal favorites and arguable one of their best. Which production help from Dilla. This album is so smooth and even in 2008 isnt dated. Especially since albums in 05 sound date compared to now. Telling you that ATCQ were definitely beyond their time. This album often reminds me of several groups out now and obviously influenced by this album & ATCQ in general. My favorite song off this album is the highly acclaimed, Find A Way.

Another one of those underrated albums of 07. Raheem's debut solo flew under the radar without any notice. This album is great and deserves attention. The production is on point & the lyrics are amazing. Raheem showcases his skills through out the album. Aren't any weak songs as they all serve a purpose or meaning respectively. Raheem Jamal is a member of the group "Project Move" which appear on the album to help out their friend. Raheem should definitely keep at it. With skills like this he is bound to get his proper respect.

13. Allure (prod. The Neptunes)
14. My 1st Song (prod. Aqua & Joe "3H" Weinberger)

My Thoughts
To start off, this is my personal favorite album of all-time. I know alot of people will disagree as they will take that comment as me saying it GOAT. Well those people are ignorant. Anyway this album is a mixture of emotional introspective Jay-Z & Hyped Club Banging Jay. A perfect mix of both styles but his introspective side takes command majority of this album. With the last string of song (Lucifer, Allure & My 1st Song) being Jay-Z best songs ever and my favorite songs from Jay & anybody. Truly this would be the perfect career ending album for Jay-Z but Jay couldn't stay away(can't blame ya). Will Jay is already a legend and most of you have heard this album so its no point of me upping material for it. So give it another listen & atleast respect Jay. You don't gotta love em but just respect em.

My Thoughts

The Lady of my dreams, as ill as she screams, I'll never let her open my eyes. Yup, random but genius. Seriously I think this LP went over everybody's head even mine. Walz put it down lyrically. He favorite release from him so far. And The production was great. The best song on this album be the album itself since it flows together so well. Vomit Chorus features Doom ripping this hard beat. Also featured on this LP is Wordsworth, Vast Aire, Immortal Tech, Sean Price & dozens & dozens more. Seriously this LP took me by the throar and i enjoyed every second. With wild & random lyrics that make totally no sense while simultaneously making perfect sense, this is a great album. Thank Walz for the breif explanation of complete cacophonous rhymes.

"That was the realest yawn, step up, make a move, ill kill ya illest pawn"

"I'm gangsta i hold doors for ladies, im gangsta i love all the babies"

"You dont want potholes in ya chest from a lawn dart, in NY kids shot for nothing like John Starks"

"Forget The whales, You better save your breath"

"My verse is pregnant with so many contractions"

My Thoughts

This album grows on me every time I hear a song from it. The brilliance of the concepts & lyrics were mostly over looked even by me. This is one of my HOJ album excluding LB & 9th's LPs. Truthfully I think this is probably the 3 or 4 best album of 07 which means alot since there was so much competition. Anyway alot of people complained about the album's hooks & chorus and how lousy they were. But to me I think they seemed essential. Like Powershift, if there was just a sampled hook. It wouldnt have the same prowess. Plus samples are over done & overatted. I'm into live instrumentations as of lately. But Median proved himself on this album and that he just not a guest spot artist. Major props to Median for making the dopest slept on album of 07.
