Life Is Looking Great!!!

Well I'm half way of leading the job that has kept me busy and worrying lately. Got great news about it this morning. So I'm in a pretty good mood to be sincere. With that said, I will be attending the TM concert that heads to Dallas next friday and the LB concert in Aug.

New Busta Rhymes song is hot (Got Bass). That song is dope, I liked Milli but this song is on par to honest. Hopefully Blessed will be better then C3. But according to rumors we might not hear Blessed for a while since Busta might be or been dropped from Interscope. Though I really doubt they'll drop Busta. The music industry is weird and unpredictable so you never know.

Also since we talking about Busta Rhymes. Busta is featured on the newly leak Gym Class Heroes song, Peace Sign. The song is nice as hell. I'm expecting something mean from The Quilt which according to Travie will be dropping on September 9th.

Here's GCH newest release, Patches From The Quilt EP

1. Cookie Jar ft The Dream
2. Peace Sign/Index Down ft Busta Rhymes
3. Blinded By The Sun

Kooley High
has now opened their online store The Kooley Store. It contains all K. High merchandise. Also it has the Summer Session, Gold Tooth Edition EP (which contains the orignal EP & two new songs) for $5.00. Low price for some timeless music. I'll definitely be ordering that next check.

and last but not least (the best part) it's Summer!!!

Verse Of The Day: Wailin'

Artist: OutKast
Album: ATLiens
Song: Wailin'

Verse Two: Andre

I felt the pressure like sun shinin, while raining at the same time
I kept on rhymin, not complainin
Storm bringing cats and dogs my catalog be the size of golf balls
Throw up your Daisy Dukes I'm Hazzard-ous to all you Boss Hoggs
And Roscoe P. Col' people, who could boost my locomotive
But enough of that everyone can rap unless they ain't supposed ta
I use my gift of gab to boast and brag in every rhyme I
compose won't y'all get sick of that, cause I know I do when I hear those
Flows that ain't hip-hop, you find that shit in the gift shop
But to each his own, my speech is gon', keep that shit up outta my zone
Long as you happy then I'm happy
Even if you just hate my fuckin guts go 'head and dap me
Cause I'm gon' dap you anyway and then go home and pray for yo' ass later
Cause we might need you in this war I'm wailin on you traitors
Like that...

The Crooked The Truth

[Z-Ro (left) & Trae (right)]

For those aren't familiar with Texas Hip Hop you've probably looked over these two talented individuals. Z-Ro & Trae are cousins from the Lone Star State (CHEA!). They have many solo albums between the two but now they are teaming up for a collaboration album called "It Is What It Is". Simple title that sure to bring some serious noise to the table. Both have unique styles compared to what you might expect from Texas.

Tracklisting (click for snippets)
01. Umm Umm
02. Still Throwed
03. Who’s The Man
04. Whoa [Skit]
05. Whoa [Feat. Jayton & Lil’ Boss]
06. Rain
07. Miss My Dawg
08. I Wanna Get High
09. No Help
10. Down In Texas [Feat. Hawk]
11. SOS [Skit]
12. SOS
13. This Is 3-16’s [Feat. Bulletproof]
14. Picture Me
15. Turning Heads
16. In My City
17. Still Gets No Love
18. Keep On

This album is sure to be hot. The chemistry between the two MCs is great. They seem to have exhausted the drama surrounding the two. Something I think was just a rumor. But make sure to cop the album and check out some of their previous work underneath.

Verse Of The Day

Artist:Jedi Mind Tricks Feat.Planetary Of Outerspace
Album:Violent By Design
Song:I Against I

[Planetary]:
In my historical oracle
I blast metaphorical
editorials educated
in my territorial
get torn
heavily armed with seventy bombs
that'll blast divine like the heavenly song
Your men'll be gone
if they explore my deepest thoughts
I beat hearts in two then ask demons for chalk
I'm dreaming a stalk
MCees in the dark I walk
Blindfolded the mind's golden
Watch how you talk
My style is an art
Recognize lyrical purity
All hell breaks loose like a mall with no security
The dopest vocalist (I)
with my third eye, I focus with
I proceed, flow with the speed of an Indy motorist
There's more to this than wasted
Shiny chains and bracelets
I hit tracks my tongue waitin for the brains to blaze in
Amazin angelic, tell it to your people
(Sample:Your mic and my mic, come on yo now equal)

Verse Of The Day: Epilogue

Artist: J-Live
Album: The Best Part
Song: Epilogue

It's been stated that I rhyme like God and I ?? like a poet
One hand ?? the other like Lady Macbeth
Flip styles like Bela Karolyi
Warm hearted, cold blooded
I write like opposite left
I left opposites right what they left off
My rights left right-wing as left to right beside me
Left my right hand man 'cause he left what's right
And I reserve the right to write 'til I'm free
'Cause I free styles with my pen,
That ya'll couldn't if you freestyled all day long
Literally, this literature designed for one orator
Stays on the head
Emcee's emcee, that I be the emcee's emcee
'Cause I am saying what I am thinking
Except when my mind's blinking
My eyes open even when my eyes' drinking
I's a socializer, but more so with those wiser
Ask yourself why's a music so misused it's self contained
And not self sustained
I myself contemplate this 'til I make myself complain
Shall my raps stay maintained, wrapped in cellophane
'Til they're unwrapped by human consumers?
Emphatically no, so I rap wherever I go
And let it grow up in your brain like a tumor

Put The Pressure On Em

Killer Mike ft. Ice Cube - Pressure

Exactly what I would except from a Killer Mike & Ice Cube collaboration. Songs goes real hard at the government. The video adds that shock factor that takes the entire concept to another level. Killer Mike went beast mode on the last two verses. Not holding back any punches, going straight at the neck.

Verse Of The Day: Simply A Joy

Artist: Georgia Anne Muldrow
Album: Chrome Children
Song: Simply a Joy

[Georgia Anne Muldrow]
Simply a joy to be next to you
Such a thrill, you've got such a good attitude
And though I enjoy my solitude
I'm gettin wise to what the power of two can do
Real love always takes it's victim by surprise
Sneak attack devotion when I look into that black man's eyes
Secrets of the cosmos realign in my spine; it's truly ancient
Deep inside of me he's the only one I ever need
Got no rhythm rhyme and reason in my knees
Senseless sets me free and plants my feet
into a different state of being
Simply a joy to be close to you
Such a thrill, you've got such a good attitude
And though I enjoy my solitude
I'm gettin wise to what the power of two can do
Real love always takes it's victim by surprise
Sneak attack devotion when I look into that black man's eyes
Secrets of the cosmos realign in my spine; it's truly ancient
Deep inside of me he's the only one I ever need
Got no rhythm rhyme and reason in my knees
Senseless sets me free and plants my feet
into a different state of being

Smoke & Mirrors, Lights & Stars

Only two generations away from the world's most despicable slavery trade
Pioneered so many ways to degrade a human being that it can't be changed to this day
Legacy so ingrained in the way that we think we no longer need chains to be slaves

The Rhymesayer signee, Brother Ali has been at this hip hop for a while. His appearance as a Albino shocked many as they naturally assumed he was black. While many tend to be stuck on the fact he does have the typicial rapper look. Other like me begin to appreciate his music even more. Digging more into his music, Brother Ali has several release & the growth between each one is astonishing. But the most exciting thing about Ali is now a day rappers speck on the government through some half-ass subliminal rap while Ali goes straight at them on some Dead Prez shit. Seeming to speak from his heart, which make Ali's "The Undisputed Truth" album a clear stand out from the other releases of 07. So I strongly recommend check Ali out & copping "The Undisputed Truth" & "Shadows On The Sun".

Verse Of Day: Road to the Riches

Artist: Kool G Rap and DJ Polo
Album: Road to the Riches

Song: Road to the Riches

When I was five years old I realized there was a road
At the end I will win lots of pots of gold
Never took a break, never made a mistake
Took time to create cos there's money to make
To be a billionaire takes hard work for years
Some nights I shedded tears while I sent up prayers
Been through hard times, even worked part time
In a ?seafood? store sweepin floors for dimes
I was sort of a porter takin the next man's order
Breakin my back for ?a shack for headquarters?
All my manpower for four bucks an hour
Took the time, I wrote rhymes in the shower
Shoes are scoffed cos the road gets rough
But I'ma rock it til my pockets ain't stuffed enough
All the freaks wouldn't speak cos my checks was weak
They would turn the other cheek so I started to seek
A way to get a play, and maybe one day
I'll be performin up a storm for a decent pay
No matter how it seems I always kept the dream
All the girlies scream and suckas get creamed
Dreamed about it for five years straight
Finally I got a break and cut my first plate
The road ain't yellow and there ain't no witches
My name is Kool G Rap, I'm on the road to the riches

One of the most quotable verse in hip hop history. From a golden time that someone of my age will never know but read about. I know alot of people say that our blog is bit newish as we never speak on the 90s and what. Well to me, I respect the all the previous era's rappers but what else is there for me to speak on? I happened all already. Plus I wouldn't want to be fake. I live in this generation of hip hop so I focus on this gen since I believe that its just as great as the previous era's. Its all hip hop.

The Leak #28 & Driving Down The Block (West Coast remix)

The Leak #28: Mickey Factz feat. Fresh Daily - Keep Moving
I was just wondering about Fresh Daily. I heard that he had an accident but due from help of the good lord he is fine & well. This joint is a certified banger as Mickey & Fresh rock out.
DOWNLOAD!!

Kidz In The Hall feat. Pacific Division, Tyga, Glasses Malone & Mistah FAB - Driving Down The Block (West Coast remix)
It's another remix of KITH's single, Driving Down The Block. Cept this time around it adds a little more twist. As Naledge gets some help from some West Coast MCs on the lyrical side.

Thelonious Monk A Jazz Icon

If you've seen Dave Chappelle's Block Party then you've probably heard this guy be mentioned & praised. Well Dave wasn't kidding or joking about studying Thelonious. I've been researching & studying about Thelonious Monk for about two months now. Abstract timing which alot of present day Jazz musicans try to imitate is what make Thelonious so special. Though it's not the other aspect that makes him a standout it's probably very noticeable after hearing 2 or 3 selections performed by him. He's coined many songs that are often in jazz repertoire such as Round Midnight, Epistrophy, Blue Monk, Straight No Chaser and many more. One of the most influential jazz musician & frequently noted as a founder of Bop Jazz. Thelonious Monk passed away at the age of 64 & has been awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award & a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation.

Any person with appreciate of the skill to make music would respect & enjoy Thelonious.

Sincerely Yours Jane

Left the city, my momma she said don't come back home
These kids round' killin each other, they lost they minds, they gone
They quittin' school, making babies and can barely read
Some gone off to their fall, lord have mercy on them
One, two, three, four, your cousins is round' here sellin' dope
While they're daddies, your uncle is walking round' strung out
Babies with babies, and their tears keep burning, while their dreams go down the drain now

Are we really living or just walking dead now?
Or dreaming of a hope riding the wings of angels
The way we live
The way we die
What a tragedy, I'm so terrified
Day dreamers please wake up, we can't sleep no more

Love don't make no sense, ask your neighbor
The winds have changed; it seems they have abandoned us
The truth hurts, and so does yesterday
What good is love if it burns bright, and explodes in flames
(I thought every little thing had love but uhh)

Are we really living or just walking dead now?
Or dreaming of a hope riding the wings of angels
The way we live
The way we die
What a tragedy, I'm so terrified
Day dreamers please wake up, we can't sleep no more

I've seen them shootin' up funerals in they Sunday clothes
Spending money on spinners but won't pay college loans
And all you gangers and bangers rollin' dice and taking lives, in a smokey dark
Lord have mercy on you
Teacher, teacher please reach those girls in them videos
The little girls just broken Queen, confusing bling for soul
Danger, there's danger when you take off your clothes, all your dreams go down the drain girl

Are we really living or just walking dead now?
Or dreaming of a hope riding the wings of angels
The way we live
The way we die
What a tragedy, I'm so terrified
Day dreamers please wake up, we can't sleep no more

We live and then we die, and we never know the why
So now, now we go, down underground
We think that we can fly, but we never touch the sky
So down, now we go, down underground

Five, seven, eight, two, one
It is now time, for you to come home my dear
You've been gone long enough
You must come, you must go

Janelle is so talented. Recently signed to Bad Boy Records but she not your typical Bad Boy artist. She use her imagination & creativity which has her turning many heads. Janelle is just a talented as she is cute...

She is so sexy. Something about her....

Before she was signed with Bad Boy. You may remember hearing Janelle on Outkast's Idlewild album. Janelle also had a project called "The Audition EP" featuring her first single "Lettin' Go". She was more of the reg then cept her talent was still phenomenal. But either side of Janelle easily is better then majority of artist out now.

Her hair can be a indiction of her transformation but like I said both are great. I know I'm drifting off the subject & focusing on her appearance. But when your that attractive it's hard. Her music is the main attraction to her. Her looks seal the deal in my opinion.

Now Janelle is experiementing with a a project of suite releases. This abstract concept has garnered the praise of many . At the end of these suite release is her debut solo album which is scheduled to drop in this Fall. Currently Janelle is working on her first music video, Many Moon. So with all that said. I'll drop a few links to various songs. Also I would like to mention that according to her myspace the first part of her suite series is to release in stores on the 12th of August.

Song: Hip-Hop

[stic.man]
Uh, who shot Biggie Smalls?
If we don't get them, they gon' get us all
I'm down for runnin' up on them crackers in they city hall
We ride for y'all - all my dogs stay real
Nigga, don't think these record deals gon' feed your seeds
And pay your bills, because they not
MCs get a little bit of love and think they hot
Talkin' 'bout how much money they got; all y'all records sound the same
I'm sick of that fake thug, R&B-rap scenario, all day on the radio
Same scenes in the video, monotonous material
Y'all don't here me though
These record labels slang our tapes like dope
You can be next in line and signed; and still be writing rhymes and broke
You would rather have a Lexus? or justice? a dream? or some substance?
A Beamer? a necklace? or freedom?
Still a nigga like me don't playa-hate, I just stay awake
This real hip-hop; and it don't stop 'til we get the po-po off the block
They call it...
